is this any good? anything better of similar price?
I got the HG20 (not the same, I know, but the sensor is the same) for around £500 a year ago, but recognise this isn't a bad price to be fair.

However, for a newer release with some tweaks to the old version, this is a decent camera and the quality at 24Mbit in 1080p is excellent! Be warned though, that rendering AVCHD currently requires a fairly beefy PC to complete the work in decent time - unless Adobe Premier/Sony Vegas are supporting GPGPU/CUDA etc.
The ability to use 58mm lenses makes this one of the best product redesigns for ages.
I'd love to have one but know I'd only use it 3 times a year :/

was about £1k untill recently.
