Well I hope you get it!
My experience wit Tesco has been apalling since I ordered a sony camcorder a few weeks ago.
It was in stock, dispatched (but never arrived) and then mysteriously went out of stock and I was
told that it had never been sent in the first place as they didn't have any.
It reappeared on their site yesterday so I ordered it again and once more it is not available and not in stock and I have just had to call them again to be told I won't be getting it.
They never tell you - they leave it up to you to do the running and don't give a monkeys when
you complain.
Makes you wonder if they have the same staff as Debenhams web site!
Rant over!

Good price and a great first post malawihap. Voted Hot!

Wouldn't touch another Canon Mini DV camcorder.

Do a google for the 'remove tape' error message.

Happened to me, camcorder was 4 years old before it revealed this error, very lightly used but well out of warranty. Not only does it refuse to play tapes but it chews them up in the process.

I had to buy another mini dv camcorder just to capture my footage onto the pc. Wouldn't trust Canon camcorders at all.

good find malawihap

This camcorder is great, mic input so useful, I have it and have had no problems. Very compact.

Bad Actor sounds like you tapes heads on the camera have gone. This happens if you have your camera on pause alot, the tape heads are still run turning round, which wears them out.
#10
Just used it like anyone would use a camcorder.

Wouldn't want to use any camcorder if I had to think about how long I could pause it for etc to avoid doing harm.

Google will reveal it's a design fault with Canon machines.

They do make great digital still cameras though, got an S2 IS which is superb but as for mini camcorders, they suck the big one.

Great first post!
I've just sold my Canon XM1, which is a great piece of kit and gave me 8 years of trouble free use.
Under £100 for a top-brand MiniDV camera with Canon optics - brilliant!

I have stopped using my dv camcorder since i got an excellent regular camera (ixus 800is) which also happens to do video. Especially as recording to SD cards is more convenient for transferring from camera to computer. The quality is pretty much the same from both.

I therefore recommend a still camera capable of excellent quality video, like the Samsung S850 at play.com for £80, which records at resolution up to 800x592 at 20fps.

It won't capture sound as well as the canon, and the optics won't be as good, but I think the video quality overall will be a bit better. Cheap media (4gb SDHC cards for £9 from play.com) and you are sorted.

I have a MD101, awesome budget cameras. You wont find a better cam under £150 and for under £100 this is a billy bargain. Heat and rep added.
Highly regarded here http://www.avforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=61

£100 is worth 4 years of camcorder imo

Seems like a total bargain to me. £100 for a quality brand camcorder with 16:9 widescreen and 30x optical?! WOW. Plus, mini DV is still THE best standard for best quality recording. Even with the new HD cams this provides for the best uncompressed quality storage.

just got it from amazon for the mrs birthday thanks

Showing out of stock at Tesco and 136.99 at Amazon?!
#19
Been removed from Tesco website completely now - yesterday was still listed with option to receive Email once back in

Ordered from Amazon a few days ago when it was £99.97, even though there was supposedly a wait of a few weeks for stock.

However it's already been dispatched!
