quidco.......

800K pixels. That's less than 1MP resolution. Just don't expect stunning quality from the output. I have a 1.7MP mini DV camera, and even that takes disappointing movies. You get what you pay for, I suppose.

Standard definition PAL TV is approximately 400,000 pixels. When it comes to the quality of video it is down to the quality of the sensor, lens and compression technology in the machine. If they are all top notch, there is no reason this camera wouldn't take fine standard def footage.

Excellent deal for possibly less than £100 (including quidco), very well-regarded in avforums.com- but cannot find any reviews anywhere!

Note to self: Don't post comments after drinking too much wine.

I did actually realise just after I'd shut down the computer, but couldn't be bothered rebooting.
#18
Can the video be transfered straight onto the computer via USB/ firewire?
banned#19
It has a firewire port so I think you should be able to

Thanks a lot dude!! I'll think about it

Just a quick point... they are great cameras and MiniDV is fine, but you do get some tape noise actually coming through on the recording, not much, but it is definitely there.
#22
Anyone bought one and had quidco track?

MiniDV is a very, very good format. The camcorders and tapes are still sold in Argos, Currys etc.

There's a lot of snobbery due to DVD and HDD camcorders being more prominent these days, but I have access to both a Canon DVD camcorder and a JVC MiniDV model, and I go for the MiniDV every single time. Absolute doddle to connect to PC or my DVD recorder.

Any MiniDV camcorder under about £125 is definitely well worth a look if you're in the market.

No longer taking 20% off the site.
Just tried it and it's showing :

Code accepted: Your 20% discount has been applied to the prices of the eligible items shown with a green check mark next to the price.
Coupon Code:
Savings: £87.55
Subtotal: £116.99
Delivery Options

Next Business Day - Standard FREE
Next Business Day - Priority 1.95
VAT: £20.47
Total: £137.46

However this is the same price without the discount code, and there is no green tick next to the camera in the basket field. Looks like this item no longer qualifies for the 20% off? or am i doing something wrong?

Tried it again from quidco and same problem...

Jav

PS> just looked for something else comparable and comet are doing a samsung for £112.99 without codes> might buy this one instead....

Yeah, looks like they've stopped the discount working on this Camcorder. Still, at least some people seemed to get it.

Don't really know much about camcorders, just posted this as I like Canon and it was a really good price so couldn't comment on the Samsung.

Yeah if you mistake canon for samsung
#32
Athough Canon manufactures some great cameras, their camcorders are not any better than those made by Samsung.

Thanks for posting this. Just ordered one.
