This printer gets excellent reviews. Although it's now been superseded by the MP630, that printer doesn't get such good reviews. See reviews at places like http://www.alatest.co.uk, PC Pro (http://www.pcpro.co.uk/labs/168/inkjets-all-in-ones/products.html), http://www.trustedreviews.com

I've just ordered one to replace my trusty but now gradually dying HP PSC1215

Worst printer I have ever had the misfortune to own.
Printer head constantly getting stuck ( error code 5110).
Canon not interested in replacing as they can talk me through error code, then 2 or 3 prints later it is stuck again.
This code seems to be a common problem with this unit, check net.
I would avoid!
Back to Epson next.

I couldn't find the difference between the MP610 and the MP630:

These are excellent - suggest willocks just got a friday machine. Was PC PRO's A List multifunction device for a whole year even at £140 - only replaced by its replacement (which is just as good but has changed to more expensive carts so not as cheap to run).

You can get compatible carts (complete with re-programed chips so that they ink levels show correctly) really cheaply on ebay now too.

Prints to printable CDs directly (using a little tray) - excellent quality.

Cant recommend enough - if mine broke I'd but anohter tomorrow even at the RRP - at £85 its a steal.

Have to second what phanco says, had this printer for just over a year and not a single problem. Only complaint I can find about it is that they send it out with partly full ink cartridges.. but thats nothing the other companies dont do anyway. great price at £85, think it is still a good £10 more at places like Dabs.com

Heat added...

Agree with last two posts - bought this printer a couple of months ago from amazon after a thorough search of the net to get a quality printer/copier/scanner for the best price. Paid about £90ish from memory - and very happy with it. The reviews I read suggested that the newer 630 was not as good and the ink was more expensive to buy....
