I am in a search for a new printer, but never Canon again. They are only ment to last 2-3 years regardless how often you print. I bought quite expensive one 2 years ago, broke down a week ago.

For anything other than minimal use, the cost of printer food has more of an impact on ownership cost than initial purchase price. Food for this specific printer is compariatively not the cheapest, but certainly not the most expensive.

Still using a Canon MP630 - now about 3 yrs old - ink from ebay 5 sets of chiiped cartridges £6. Dreading it when it dies as newer printers have much more expensive ink. For ths printer ink seems to be from £14 per set.

However I will still be tempted to go Canon but would be swayed by cost of replacement cartridges..
