It gets a good writeup on steves-digicams.com and is listed on their "best cameras" page in the Entry-Level section: http://www.steves-digicams.com/best-cameras.html

Good beginners camera, good price, hot!

I bought one of these when they were £60 at Argos before Christmas, I have been happy with it until this weekend when I went to Edinburgh. I went to turn the camera on and it came up with "lens error please restart camera" but the camera would not turn off or on and the lens was stuck out. I have been periodically taking the batteries out trying different batteries and trying to turn it on and off to no avail. Today when I finally got to Argos to try and return it I went in the shop put the batteries in and the camera worked perfectly!!!! what an idiot I looked. Glad it is working again but a bit worried as when I googled "canon lens error" it seems to be a common problem. I'm hoping it was just the cold weather.

It's a very good entry level camera, but to be honest it's regularly around this price or even less so not really a hot deal in my opinion - not cold by any means, just not especially hot.

Might be interesting to wait and see if Argos have any good camera deals in their new catalogue at the weekend (not Hitachi though!)
