Blimey... That's a jump and a half... Or a great saving... Depends on your timing I suppose, and mine stinks.

Great find by the way... Hope they still have some on monday. Heat applied!

the technical minded people out there might like trying this

Unlocks extra features, such as exposure upto 2000 seconds, shooting in RAW and running scripts.

Had these in Woodhall Farm, Hemel Hempstead Sainsburys this morning if any help to anybody

They had a reasonable selection of the £49 cameras in stock in the Witney store if anyone in the area is looking for one.

I got a Sony Cybershot DSC W270 from Sainsbury's Durham yesterday for £49. It was priced as reduced to £100, but scanned at £49. Fantastic camera for the price, still at £180 on Play.com.

Good price but not that significantly dropped in price as suggested. It is retailing at 59 quid in Argos.
Heat added though

The price was not honoured by Play so you did not lose out on that one :-)

quite an assortment of £49 digital cameras at Newbury Sainsburys at the mo. Just ask at the Electrical Desk and they will show you what is available. Some good buys. I bought an Agfa 1080p HD Camcorder and a Sony DSC-W270. Both a bargain !!!

Hi,

This is a good deal. I bought one of these last year but had to return it as the AA battery's went on them really fast. You also have to make sure you buy a high quality memory card, or the camera keeps giving you an error message. I have now bought a camera with a built-in charger. So think before you buy!

Thanks. Picked up a Sony W180 last night. For anybody else, they still have a Canon 480 in stock. There a re quite a few Samsungs etc left.

Be aware that these seem to be ex display as I found quite a few pics taken of the store and customers on the camera.

Mine was factory sealed still (W270), there was only one left after I got mine though and that was the one on display in the store.

I bought one of these, but to be honest am totally disappointed with the picture quality. My 6 year old Kodak DX7630 (6.1 megapixel) compact takes much better pictures. The Canon just cannot focus properly in anything but the best conditions. Even then, outdoors in brilliant sunshine, parts of the picture are out of focus. OK, it's a budget camera, but for a recent model by a decent manufacturer I was expecting *much* more.

As a comparison, here's a picture taken with my 6 year old Kodak:

Here's the same pic taken with the Canon A480:

Both cameras were set to full auto, except with the flash disabled as there was plenty of natural light coming into the room.

I tried all sorts of settings on the Canon and the best I could get was with the flash enabled and macro turned on:

Even that is not up to the standard of the Kodak on auto with no flash. It's a shame as otherwise it's quite nice - compact, turns on very quickly, takes pictures reasonably quickly.

Do you think I can return it on the grounds that it takes such shoddy pictures?

This offer is still on.

You guys did well to get the Sony W270!

Picked up two Sony Cybershot DSC-W270 for £49 from Farnbourough on Friday. They had another three left, but all were black. Newbury store apparently has silver ones. Would have liked to have found a Canon SX110 somewhere though for it's 10x Optical zoom.
