The black model is £248.23 incl VAT & FREE delivery from amazon.co.uk. Red and Blue also available but cost more.

Have a look at the Fujifilm Finepix F200EXR before you purchase the canon. Shorter telephoto range but much better picture quality.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fujifilm-Finepix-F200EXR-Digital-Camera/dp/B001SN6XQI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1246631606&sr=1-1

Here are some test results for both cameras
http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/canon/powershot_sx200-review/
http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/fuji/finepix_f200exr-review/using

Unless you want to make pictures larger than A3, I would go for the FinePix F100fd, because picture quality is so much better, especially in low light photography:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fujifilm-FinePix-F100fd-Digital-Camera/dp/B001526AEM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1246631944&sr=1-1

You can buy the FinePix F100fd for £130 inclusive delivery from Fuji direct (Refurb with warranty - shows out of stock at the moment but stock changes every day). This is what I would do:
https://secure.fujifilm.co.uk/shop/consumer/digital/digital-cameras/view-all

Of course if you want HD video and fancy stuff, the F100 will not do that. But for clean good photography it's the better camera.

Comparing a 5x and 12x camera and HD non-HD isn't too helpful in my opinion. As in all cameras the SX200 has it's faults - but so do the models you quote - from the reviews you presented there's no evidence of one being definitively better than the other.

If I was spending £200 I'd buy the Canon every time (just don't let my Fuji S8000fd hear me say that) :)

Fujifilm are great, they are always coming up with innovative ideas to improve the image quality, while others tend to push out more toys and gimmicks. The F200EXR is a particularly fine camera according to the reviews.

However I would still not buy one with *my* £200. The 12x zoom and HD video of the Canon SX200 sway it for me. I am biased towards Canon products, but put a 10x zoom or greater on the F200EXR + HD video and I would get the Fujitsu (for me Megapixels have been irrelevant since we passed 6MP).

Having said that there are a few reviews now mentioning the SX200's problem with purple fringing. Best to test the camera as soon as it arives to make sure this isn't too much of a problem. I know it would bother me.

Ideally I would get the Panasonic TZ7, it ticks all my boxes... but the price is still a bit out of reach at the moment. That's the wife's final say on the matter :-)

You sure you can't persuade the extra £40 out of the purse? :whistling:

Edit: OK maybe £50-£60 extra - not including the extra battery you will need (a couple of reviews say only 100 shots per charge against the claimed 300); but it is a much better camera.

Any deals on the TZ7 anywhere? :roll:

Panasonic TZ7:

simplyelectronics.net = £255.95
rgbdirect.co.uk = £269.00
amazon.co.uk = £271.45

All prices incl VAT and free delivery.

But the price is a bit too high still for this camera (says my wife :-) )

Presumably HD video is an absolute must have? If not reading the reviews the TZ6 is arguably a better shooter than the TZ7 and can be found as low as £188 (£205 at Amazon).

Blimey great deal if you want a decent camera. Was so tempted to order the Canon but, I think I'm going pay the 60 odd quid on the Panasonic TZ-7. Mainly due to the lack of optical zoom for video and stereo sound recording (both of which the TZ-7 has).

This model also uses the .mov video format instead of MPEG-4 - which I find quite strange as the latter uses less memory and is supported for playback by most BR/DVD players, games consoles or any other media players. In the end, this camera is a bit better for taking photos but the extra features of the Panasonic are much more useful to me.

The price today for the Canon SX200 IS on Amazon.co.uk is £248.23, so the total after Canon cashback now will be £208.23. A saving of another £1.76 ;-)

Dixons.co.uk also have this camera, product code 058396 = £249.99 incl feee delivery.

But add it to the basket and the price jumps to £278.33... the Dell site says incl VAT but in the basket VAT is added :x
