Two online stores have said that Canon UK will be starting their Autumn rebates very very soon. For those who are looking to buy a Canon DSLR it may be worth waiting a few days until Canon UK make the announcement.

Rebates are on Canon DSLR's, selected Canon Lens and accessories. See the next post for further information.

For those looking to buy any of the above, please don't make the mistake and run off to Jessops. Your best bet is to use Camera Price Buster to find the best deal in the UK.

Are all those prices what's taken off the original price at the moment then?
#4
I'm waiting for the 40D :-)

I too had my eyes on the 40D - but the new Nikons look sweet.

can't quite grasp the principle of these cashbacks if they're becoming offers that are on more often than they're off (a la dfs best ever sale). presumably it's to penalise impulse buyers or those who can't fill in a form, but i wonder why they don't just cut the rrp's?

Those are the prices taken off however I urge a little patience. I would wait till Canon give the official announcement before buying any of the gear above. They might put something in the T&C's to say that purchases must be between 1st October and 31st December, which means any purchases made today would not qualify.

I post this up as 2 online retailers have both given this information, so there must be something coming up soon. My local Jessops had no idea, so I'm guessing the announcement is due very soon.

Also, let me explain. This price will not be deducted at the point of sale. You have to pay the full price and then when you receive your item you remove the barcode on the box and fill out a form from the Canon website. You attach a copy of your receipt and post this to Canon. They will then either send you the money direct into your designated account or send a cheque by post. This is how it has been done in the past and its worked well. Although be prepared to wait around 6 weeks for the rebate, it is still worth a wait. I was about to purchase a new camera, lens and flash this week, but after seeing this I decided to wait and will hopefully save over £200. :santa:

I can't agree with your more. However it seems to be the way things will be. In America, they've had these rebates going on for a while and they get better deals than us. I'm just glad we get some kind of deal. What's more, our American friends get double cashback on certain items.

Like I cautioned before, it is worth shopping around for the best price and maximising the benefit of this offer when it is announced. Jessops quoted me over £1330 for a 70-200 f2.8 IS lens. Online it is available for £1190. I've managed to find the same for £1050, and then with a rebate of £135 this will be a bargain lens!

The price appears to have dropped but only by a one off fixed amount and the retail price of the product is not altered. So Canon aren't starting a price war with their competitors.
The second benefit is seen in the USA where a large % of people either forget to fill in the forms or do it incorrectly so they don't get the rebate. So Canon only lose £ on a % of sales.

Jessops stores have got their POS material in today so it looks like the offer is going live very soon. :)

I just purchased the 40D today @ Jessops,, did not know about the rebate,,,, Think i will wait for it to go live and then if my purchase is outside the rebate dates try and get jessops to do me a new receipt or refund and resell the item to me.

Getting Jessops to refund and resell shouldn't be a problem. They did it for me last year when i bought a 430EX from them.

Have a look here for all the Camera bodies with kit lens on Rebate.

It's in Euros but it should be the same offer in the UK when announced 1st October.
