seems a good piece of kit; tempted :)
#3
Has anyone managed to interface any of Aldi's previous car stereos to steering wheel stalk controls?
#4
Bought one of these an hour ago, brilliant stereo, easy fit and definately very easy to set up the blue tooth. I have a Sony bt2500 and this is 10 times easier to use than the Sony. At £49.99 an absolute bargain.
No connectivity to the steering wheel though but for the price who cares, it has the remote with it so that does the job.

i got one of their car stereos last time they had them and for some reason only got round to fitting it last week. but mine looks quite similar to this one so i guess they have just gave it a face lift because it has exactly the same specs from what i can make out.

mine is fantastic, the bluetooth handsfree is a great feature and works pretty well. when playing though the jack it sounds fantastic and mine came with a gold plated 3.5 to 3.5 cable. i really cant knock it for the price, the only thing so far that has annoyed me abit is the silly eq graphics which always bounch and i cant seem to gt them off the screen and the fact it always seems to be lit up even when you dont touch it and that it forgets how loud it was previously set to so it always come on pretty loud. and it has a remote which is abit pointless.

but as you can tell they are pretty small things which shouldnt stop you from buying it. in simple awesome bit of kit just buy it, its only this cheap becase it says tevion on it instead of sony.

Got the previous model fittedit in a fiat, kept draining the battery?
#7
I got the last Tevion they had for £30, why is this £10 more, doesnt seem to be any better?

I dropped this one on the floor and the scree doesnt work but it still works fine, would recommend them
#8
Hi, This looks just what i'd like. Could I replace this with the bog standard one that comes fitted with the Ford Focus does anyone know?
Are they easy to install.
Thanks
#9
It drains the battery as you need to swap a couple of wires around to make the head unit run properly......

I fitted this into a couple of car's, great unit, bluetooth struggles when you have a noisey engine or going at high rev's.

if its on without the ignition on then you must have a connection problem so it will keep drawing electricity even when the car is off

HI,
I have prev bought a tevion stereo and I have no faults with it. THe one I have you can turn the annoying EQ graphics off, I cannot remember of the top of my head how, but im sure its in the intstructions. As for the forgetting how loud it was bit, if the 1 you have is the same controls as mine all you have to do is press and hold the centre of the volume dial, it then brings up options by pressing the centre again it cycles the menus and one of them allows you to set the default volume for whe it starts up. Hope that helps.

I would recommend these stereos considering it can play a vast range of files through numerous inputs it great value

#13

I don't know about this model but some can take 4gbSDHC cards or higher.

Hi,

How can we find out if it fits in a particular make and model car i.e. 2002 Honda Civic SE?

And any "high street" fitting services which allow you to use them even if you do not buy the unit from them?

Thanks!

I've Vauxhall Astra - Club 1.6 2003 reg. Does any one know if this unit fits to that pls? Tx

yup happened to my punto too, its due to the positivity charge or something
an auto electrician fitted an auto switch for £15 to mine, job sorted
#20
A switch? Sounds like a bodge to me! I bet it just needed some wire swapping or something. Many stereos do to work correctly, my Astra's headunit (for instance) will lose all it's settings unless I swap 2 wires over on the loom (which I was, of course, well aware of when fitting it - a quirk of Vauxhalls).

Does anyone know if this will this play mp3/wma off usb or sd?

Thanks

Hi All,

These frequently pop up in Aldi - I bought one just over a year ago. They're alright, but I had an issue after a couple of months with the backlight. It dimmed to the point I couldn't see anything unless I was doing night driving.

Anyone checked Aldi in sutton, notts?. dont wanna have to trek up there to be OOS.

Good value, but Tevion stuff is seldom trouble free, for me anyway.
I got the £30 model and every now and again it distorts abit on one speaker or another. Turning on and off cures it. It also turns on to a static roar once in a while too. Again, on and off stops it.
Not quite broke enough to send back but often a bit bust-ish ( sounds like a lot of Sharp branded stuff I've owned! )
2GB SD card max on the old model, don't know about the new one.
On the plus side, I couldn't imagine anyone breaking in to steal one, esp. if you leave on the Tevion branded fascia.
I can also say it sounds quite good for a cheapo unit. Plenty left in the Chaddesden store.:whistling:

Bought last one in Leigh Lancs today..apparently sold like hot cakes yesterday. Fitted in 20 mins and I can confirm it works with Iphone for handsfree. Happy Days. Engineer who fitted said he has fitted loads of these and earlier models and had no complaints.

I had the same and I could only use it in dim illumination. At night it would not show anything in the day it became washed out by bright light, so at dawn and dusk it cast a shadow that was not washed out and I could see it.

I also got the problem of the settings being wiped every time I turned the ignition off. I thought it was a quirk of the peugeots wiring system. it works in a funny way so I did not blame the stereo for that, but it was a pain. The supplied stereo died, but never had this problem, so there must be way round it but, I never found out how from anyone.

I looked into this with my last stereo and there was one for my peugeot 206, but it cost around £60 so was not really worth it. I don't know how much they cost now. In those days Ebay never existed.

Just looked on Ebay and it was £19.95 plus £2.95 postage. Maybe worth a punt. I wonder if it gets rid of the losing its settings bug as well.

If its forgetting its preset (check if the radio station stores are doing the same), then it looks like you need to do change a couple of wires in the loom as others have done, the red one (ACC) and the yellow one usually (+ Battery) certain cars need this, and in fact certain looms have the option to switch them over without having to cut and resolder, our Panasonic does, and for our previous car (Vauxhall Vectra) we had to swap them round.

If you are finding battery drain and losing preset memory, then these will definitely need changing, you can buy loom adaptors to switch this round, but really a simple cut and resolder/or a terminal block with insulation tape would suffice.

I was told the Peugeot was due to the multiplex wiring, or were they talking out of an orifice.

I have also seen on a site on ebay:

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR HEADUNIT IS STALK CONTROL COMPATIBLE AS NOT ALL ARE! If unsure please e-mail your make and model of headunit, thanks.

http://*********.co.uk/Autoleads-Peugeot-206-stalk-control-kit-PC99-X23-/390174304192?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Terminals_Cabling_ET&hash=item5ad83367c0#ht_500wt_722

Presumeably they can tell if the stalk control will work. If someone checks can they post it as it would save the company from being pestered with calls for advice.

first time i am posting so sorry if a bit all over the place. bought this to put in my wifes micra and have to admit its much better than i expected. bit of trim "adjustment" was need as the micra had never had an aftermarket unit fitted and the old one was borrowed from my car, which has a slide down front not flip down. the flip down bit was catching on the trim.

yes they do (i have one).... what else would the usb or sd slot be used for???

i run my usb powered western digital 120gig hard drive through mine. and works perfectly
#33
Bought one last time around and it failed pretty soon.
It needed to be reset or sometimes unplugged every couple of days because it just stopped working.
And yes, i swapped the cables around and had it checked by a car stereo specialist.
The stereo was faulty.
Anyway, when it was working in between resets i really enjoyed it.
I had a 4G SD card in it with many hours of music in diffrent folders accessable kind of easy.
I waited for this offer to come up again thinking that Aldi would just swap the broken one to the new one (being the same price), but they said that it was over 28 days.
I've sent it in for repair today.
Let's hope for the best
#34
Anyone know if it'll work with an iPod classic (current gen 160GB) through the USB port? I know I can plug it in the AUX port, but I've seen stereos that let you control an iPod when it's plugged into the USB port. At the very least it'd be useful to keep it charged whilst playing. Thanks.
#35
It terms of fitting into a car that has a standard head unit, you will need to buy a surround that fits in place (I did on a pug 406)

The losing of settings is due to the wiring as has been explained.

These cant be used with remote controls that are hard wired into the car, i tried on mine and a bit of searching found it isnt done via this head unit.

Bought one myself, recognised 32gb USB flash fine...
