Car Headlight bulbs H1, H4 and H5 at Poundland for £1.00 a Pair

GozerGozer

50p Each

Can't find them on the website, so will post image on post 1 below.

I believe H4 and H1 are the most common size for car Head lights.

The H7 size is also available in a pack with 4 other bulbs and 2 fuses also for a pound, as per the link.

I always buy the packs with assorted bulbs and fuses.

Just keep it in the glove box and use it when need be. Can even save hassle from the police if you can just replace a blown bulb at the roadside.

Good price - But H7 is the more common type now

HOT even if they don't last as long.

Probabley as painful as changing bulbs on a Zafira! Vauxhall mechanics must have tiny hands to get them bulbs out lol.

Don't waste your time, unless they've changed the manufacturer
I bought some double packs for my Transit about a year ago.
The bulbs melted after a few weeks use.
Instead I buy the sets of bulbs from amazon when they have them on offer

Or a high pain threshold. lol

Ka handbook instructs you to remove the bumper and wing to change a bulb. Ford quote £60 for doing this.

HOT! They can't be any worse than the Halford ones - BOSCH brand - costing a fiver (which are supposedly suitable for motorbikes, too according to the packaging) - but one I fitted straight away had burnt out by the time I got to the traffic lights at the exit of the car park. There are some good cheapo ones off eBay, too BTW.

Same here, put one of these in and after a couple of days the light beam went a funny shape and when i had a look it had melted!

I third that. Not much more for a decent brand on ebay. Not worth the inconvenience and risk. My last set lasted about a month. A decent brand usually will last for years.

Last time I changed bulbs my local autofactors robbed me £7 for standard halogens. This was H1 fitment for my MK3 Golf.

Never again ... I usually buy it online, but needed immediate replacements as I was making a long trip in the dark ...

These bulbs look like good spares to keep in the glovebox.

    Same as previous replies, unless the manufacturer has been changed or the design improved, don't expect to use these as main replacements, might be ok for the glove-box/spares but thats it...even the bulb glass cover isn't very secure and wobbles where it joins the metal base (experienced on H4) but then again £1 bulbs? :{

Can't comment about this brand, but can say that no-name bulbs, generally give out a very poor inaccurate beam. Cars come with all sorts of safety systems these days, but from my point of point of view, lights and tyres are no.1 regarding safety. Please don't scrimp on bulbs and tyres. Buy the best you can reasonably afford. Narva make excellent low cost bulbs. I use Philips +80% in all my cars, and honestly the difference is staggering. So much easier to see, and more comfortable on long journeys. The auto express website usually have in depth reviews on bulbs.

Poor quality - you get what you pay for.

When I had standard bulbs I always used the ones aldi sold. Now I have HIDs (no not aids) they never need replacing, had my current car six years and they're still going strong!
    kramvic
Same here, mine melted, cheap price but very concerning quality.
    liamf12
For all those who have retrospectively fitted HIDs to cars without headlamp leveling systems or self leveling suspension, and have no headlamp washer jets, you may wish to invest in a pack as your cars will no longer pass the 2012 MOT!

I also used to buy the Philips +30% etc headlamps but found them to last less than a year. With research you will find that the greater the light output the less life the lamp has.

I use just standard branded manufacturer bulbs, i think mine are bosch. Have lasted 4 and a half years now / 40000 miles and still work. Better to pay a few quid for those than pay £1 for bulbs that only last a month and possibly give out a bad beam pattern.

Have tried the Philips +80% bulbs which were excellent while they lasted, really bright, but only lasted about a year as others have pointed out. I still considered buying them again though because they were much brighter and whiter.
