Any reviews on this model? It could be the one I've heard bad things about but it's an excellent price anyway even if it's not up to much. Delivery if free but price ex VAT.

Price excludes VAT. Can the price be updated?

:s the original price was cheap, for a mp3/wma/usb/sdcard & mmc card slot, sounds too good to be true, i bet these must suck, anybody had one?
#9

Very worrying - trustworthy site?

mine came ok and all in one piece, i would recommend. del via UPS

Tevion usually supply Aldi and their previous models get very good reviews for sound quality; main problem is usually niggles with card and drive incompatability ie people rush and buy a 2GB card, when 1GB was the limit - but that might not be the case with this model.

Lots of websites append session information to the URL which is not a very secure method of doing things but it wouldn't put me off this retailer. You just have to be careful when copying and pasting links. If you see a string of characters like this &osCsid=2649b490a736cf6sbd3a0a7c4 or similar that's usually your session ID so just remove that bit and check the link works without it.

Some threads I found on the subject:

I think I might steer clear, as much as I want to give it a try. Even the manual only quotes the S/N ratio as 60dB which is appalling.
#15
Oh an cancelled order because i realised the buttons were not back lit, how am i meant 2 see them in the dark lol, thanks anyway

If I connect my ipod to this (via aux or usb), can I control it by the ipod menus, or only via the stereo? If only via the stereo, how does this work? Thanks

Edit: Just had a reply from unbeatable gadgets saying that aux input allows control from the ipod, whereas usb does not. Would there be any difference in sound quality between the two?
#17
Seems a good deal, finger hovering over the buy button....
#18
For that money its cheap i paid £50 for one at aldi last year the sound quality is not that good i took it back and bought a sony mp40 off ebay. But as i say for that money ok.

Via USB would be a digital connection but at the end of the day both are going through the on board amp which I would imagine is the weakest point of the unit.

Despite it's faults for some people this is a bargain. For me the quality (sound and general usage) will bug me. I'm going back to plan A; a nice 2nd hand amp and wiring my old minidisc straight in to that.
#22
i have one of these.....

bad things:
not all of the buttons are back lit, quality of the front plastic is a little of the cheap side, half the time the tracks from an sd card will be skipped or only play half way through, manual is crap

good things:
better sound quality than my old kenwood cd player, i paid only £40 from Aldi, usb slot works well with sd card reader etc, comes with lots of accessories like cd player removal tools jack to jack cable remote control case for fascia

if anyone has this then can u tell me how to set the clock please, as the manual does not tell me..... thanks

PS I bought one of these last time around at Aldi and had problems with it so returned it for a refund - looking at the picture on the site you can see the orange label looks a bit damaged which was how mine looked after fitting and removing a couple of times - are these new or returns/refurbs?
#24
thanks, will try that out.....
#25
Mine arrived today

It looks pretty good

Now all I have to do is fit it

I will let you know how it sounds
#26
Now £39+vat

Just fitted mine, total time to replace existing one was 12 mins. Great sounding unit, though heaven only knows why there's a credit-card sized remote control :giggle:

Thanks to ukads for the OP :)

I have taken my old Nissan stereo out, but the connection is different then that of the new one.

Does anyone know if I can buy an adapter where I can plug my Nissan Micra cable into the new cable
#28
yes - you need an ISO lead for nissan. Ebay search "nissan iso" or try ebay Item number: 130098126158

Basically this adapter plugs into your car stereo leads and accomodates the standard ISO connection used by this new car stereo.

Any others floating around for a similar price? I'd like one for £29 lol but it's gone up ;X

I'm also after one after my car was broken into. Wil update this thread if I find anything suitable.

Hello I have just received my radio today and I have to say I feel I have been conned.

I contacted unbeatablegadgets prior to ordering to ensure that these were brand new and not returns from Aldi's. I was told that they were brand new boxed goods available due to overstock.

When I opened the parcel from UPS I found the box was a little tatty, but I was ok with that. However the unit I believe is NOT NEW. The warranty label is damaged as if it was caught on the car cage during installation or removal, there are scratches on the plastic facia on the sides where the removal keys go and there are no carriage screws holding the CD in place.

Have your radios been like this?

If this is the case then this company is fraudulently selling returned goods as brand new.

This unit does not have an ISO Aerial connection. I have a peugeot that uses an ISO Aerial so I did not buy an adapter, the unit arrived fitted with a DIN Socket, now I have to go out and get and ISO to DIN adapter.
#35
I'm unable to fit mine, as I'm there is no socket to screw the stereo to the car.

Has anybody else had this problem, and have a solution?
#36
Just thought I would bring this back to life again as it is back at £29.00 + VAT

I got a replacement for my other one, fast delivery and they refunded postage no problem, some donut in dispatch sent me a faulty returned unit first time round.

£34.075 delivered is a great price, the sound is great, I am using a 4GB SD Card at the moment it plays perfectly. I have not tried a hard drive yet, but at this price what can you expect.

If you want one to play everything try a Blaupunkt Casablanca, and see how much that will cost you.

Its back for £29, only silver in stock

ordered one today, thanks!

you can add a 2GB SD Card for only £8 more

managed to fit mine today after a lot of messing around. i couldn't find anything to screw the bendy piece of metal to, so i just jammed it in and it seems to be OK! i am really happy with the stereo, very impressed indeed!

one problem though (and i had this issue with my old stereo, so i know it's not me) - the power is connected to the ignition power and not the battery.

edit: found discussion on avforums so will ask my question there...
