looks quite good ..

can u remove the front pannel ?
#2
Voted hot, didn't know there were MP4 players for cars. Price isn't bad for all the playback features.
Does anyone know what screen can be used with this?
#3
think u can use any screen ... aslong as it has a yellow connector plug .

im liking the look of it , but will only get if u can remove the front pannel for security.
#4
Yeah I'd like to know that too.
Also, is it DivX/Xvid compatible? MP4 could be anything
#5
not fussed about the screen side of things & video ect. but I was about to buy this before I saw your deal - would I be better off getting this one?

depenends what features ur going to use

the sony one has no usb slot or Sd slot and does not play DVD's

its basically a normal stereo where this one is more multimedia
#7
Think the front panel does remove.
Button at bottom left of volume control in picture on ebay
Do not know why they don't say if it is or isn't
#8
thanks, I like the usb idea (I assume it means it will play direct from a usb stick or is it to connect a usb mp3 player?) apart from that I wouldn't use any of the multimedia features but it's still 10 quid cheaper which is confusing me :)

I know very little about car stereos & stereo equipment in general! I was only going for the one I posted because I have one in may car, I want another for my girlfriend for her birthday (shhhhhh don't tell her though it's a secret)

Cheers,

Both, For me its just alot easier to copy some albums onto a sd card and and play them in the car, Instead of burning them onto CD,

I think the front panel removes but I can`t be sure about it.

cool, yeah thats what I hoped it would be much easier for me to drop a couple of albums onto a usb stick than burn CD's all the time. I think I'll give it an hour to see if anyone comes up with a reason not to then I'll order one.

They still seem to have 998 in stock so doesn't look like I need to rush for a change :)

Thanks Pete,
worto.

edit - hahahaha thanks gov I knew I could rely on you lot to keep a secret ;-)

Is it easy to fix car radio's... I'd be interested in this to replace my age old tape deck (I don't actually still use tapes, I've got one of those cassette mp3 adaptor things). Also how easy would it be to still have my steering wheel controls intact for stuff like volume?

easy to fit car radios, if your current one is fairly recent. Most have a connector that just plugs into where your old one pulls out. Older cars you have to fit a connector, or hack the new one.
Some times the steering wheel connectors are easy, some are not, and may need an adaptor. Vauxhall usually needs adaptors.

Would like to have some idea of the sound quality. Was just looking at a Sony, but without the SD, and that would be more usefull than the usb.

Anyone know the power output on this?

You wounldn't happen to know what the steering wheel connections will be like for a T reg Renault Clio RXE?
#18
I've done some research on this head unit.

It's, I suspect, made by SZ TRT, a Chinese electronics company
http://www.sztrt.com

I couldn't find the model posted, so it could be discontinued.

Ebuyer states its manufacturer code is T514, so it could be an early version of this model which has an 80Gb HDD

I take it this comes with everything I need to fit it apart from the two pronged tool thingy that you need to remove the old stereo?

Last question before I buy I promise.

Thanks,
worto.

edit - stuff it, ordered now & also ordered myself a 4GB USB stick for £20 as I've saved myself some money on a stereo :) Thanks for the origional post & help.

Ebuyer have dispatched mine today, should arrive tomorrow, I`ll let everyone know whats it like

Yeah I got it on Saturday morning, Easy to fit, and the sound quality is fantasic compared to my factory fitted VW stereo.

I haven`t had much time to play with all the features yet, but here`s what I have found so far, If anyone has any specific questions, I`ll try and answer them.

It does have a removable face
The sound is stunning (loads of power)
The build quality seems good
The outputs for the LCD are AUX (video and audio)
I`m not happy with the way it manages MP3`s/WMA`s you can`t skip folders(albums) you have to skip a track at a time till you get to the next folder (very time consuming if you have alot of albums on the memory card).
I`m also not happy with the way it displays MP3/WMA tracks, the only info it shows is the track time.
Sorry I haven`t got a LCD screen to try, I`ve only got a din type, which won`t fit Unless I can find a adapter

Any questions :-)

So the MP3/WMA not selecting folders, is that just from memory cards or CD's/DVD's too?

It does have AUX in too rigt?

Still considering this one. :)

Hmm. Thats a bit of a bummer!

So basically if you stuck an MP3 DVD in it, you'd have to skip 10,000 tracks before you got to the lat track! Thats not so hot!

I suppose its still not a bad deal for a car DVD player with mp3 ability. But if MP3 is a must/priority, then it sounds like this is not the one to go for.

BTW - does it give manufacture / model details on it? The only reference that has been found online suggests it has a 80GB hard drive!!!!

I think I`ve found the manufacture :-D

http://szfujie.en.alibaba.com/product/50021753/51971044/Car_DVD_Player/CAR_DVD_PLAYER_WITH_USB_SD_MMC_RDS_AUX_IN.html

Do I get a prize :w00t:

Its a real shame that it does`nt handle the folders, otherwise it for me would be a good system.

Yeah its got a aux in, on the front of the stereo next to the memory card slot, I`m not sure about on the back though without looking.

I`ve only tried MP3 playback on the SD card and CD, I haven`t tried DVD or USB, maybe if theres a screen attached, you can select albums and tracks.

I don`t have steering controls, But to be honest I dont think this stereo will allow you to use them

If anyone finds anymore info on this stereo, Like upgraded firmware or anything please let me know.

Thanks

Pete

Does anyone know what screen can be used with this?

I'm sure I saw a good deal on a Samsung 37" LCD the other day...:whistling:

Seriously, what kind of folk watch DVDs when they're driving/in control of a vehicle?
#29
brill - thanks for all the info, mine has turned up today but it's not the GF's birthday until the weekend so I can't fit in until then.

The lack of folder selection sounds a bit shoddy, but if thats the worst thing about it then I guess for this price it's something we can live with :)

The idiot kind I guess but I think the point of having this feature is for the passengers and kids. In Japan, many cars are equipped with a touchscreen TV which is used for watching TV, DVDs and GPS navigation.
#31
Don't suppose any knows of a cheap single din motorised screen that could be paired with this?
#32
Petewxn...is this definitly an Aux Input at the front and not an output. Have you tried linking an ipod or something up to this?
Thanks for the assistance, alix
#33
If, in this case, MP4 DIDN'T mean divx, what could it mean?
#34
If only I had a screen to try I could check it out :-( anyone know of a cheap screen that could fit into a stereo slot, reason being my VW stereo was a double din.

I`m guessing here but surely if you had a DVD full of mp3s, and a screen attached it would allow you to select a folder and trac via the the remote?

You could always take a portable tv to the car to test it. Then you would know if you would be wasting your money.
#36
Think I'll go for one of these - dont really need the DVD side of things but it seems to have everything I want for a better decent price. If it sounds good then its a bargain :)
