Whatever price you pay for one of these is money well spent. You can't put a price on a life.

£14.99 for a guinea-pig down my local pet shop.

These are such a good idea - carbon monoxide is a silent killer, yet we only tend to have normal smoke alarms!
I think this is hot, it is just a shame that they don't make them as cheaply and as accessible as smoke alarms!
#4
I believe Woolworths & Argos have been selling similar for £19.99 also.
(Some incorporate a smoke alarm as well.)

Looks like the (comprehensive) User Guide is here:

Runs on 3 AA Alkalines.

Well worth the money. I had one and it lasted a year or so but that was a British Gas one.

Carbon Monoxide is a silent killer so just as important as a smoke alarm.

95% sure these are £15 in ASDA

If you run gas appliances in your home and don't buy one of these and, you are a ****** *****.

Ask your local Fire Service about smoke alarms. Ours provide 2 free for every house and they have a 10yr battery in them, so you don't have to worry about replacing them.

Carbon monoxide is not a very prominant threat to most people.
I have my boiler in my garage, and I sincerly doubt that the levals would rise enough to kill me in my sleep. (i have a heavy fire door in between and its so far away..)

Few people are killed like this, and buying one, although could save your live, is almost certainly going to be £20 for peice of mind.
Not in any way critising anyone, but you have to look at the facts, how many people are killed in UK by CO in their houses?

Each year, over 50 people die in the UK as a direct result of exposure to Carbon Monoxide Gas (CO). Many more people die through strokes and respiratory illness made worse by inhaling low levels of CO over prolonged
periods. Still, more are left with permanent damage and invalidity.

Thats my point. Not exactly very many compared to almost anything else is it?!

I'm just pointing out that (as youve just proved) chances are very much that this will only ever serve the buyer as a peice of mind.

I think the old-fashioned sayings are the best - better to be safe than sorry.

I am sick of British Gas keep telling me to unblock my air vents everytime they have to do work on my premises.

If I was going to die of of CO2 poisoning it would have happened 12 years ago before they serviced my boiler. :x

Why should I freeze to death just because of their ridiculous unproven policy.

British Gas have never proved that CO2 is a problem in my house, so what gives them the right to vandalise my house?

we have the woolies one, its great - best thing we bought (apart from our 42 inch plasma of course!!!)
great for piece of mind - we even got some of the little disposable ones to take away on holiday with us, my friend lost her mam due to this silent killer, it is really worth investing in one, even if you are strapped for cash, like we were when we got ours, it was money well spent!

CO2 is carbon dioxide, CO is carbon monoxide

£10 ASDA Carbon Monoxide Alarm

Just bought an ASDA carbon monoxide alarm - battery operated (PP3 type alkaline battery included) at local ASDA store.
Shelf price showed £14.97 or thereabouts but when came through checkout was priced at only £10.

Lloyds Pharmacy are doing one for half price (£12.99 at the minute)
