  Was also this price today in Tesco at Camberley. The 5W30 is very good value. According to the back of the can, the 5W30 semi-synthetic is API SL/CF, ACEA A1/B1, Ford M2C913A/B. This a proper low viscosity fuel economy oil at a great price. Well done Tesco!

  Also at West Durrington but mainly 5w30 - I needed 10w40 and there were only 2 or 3 of them.

  There are two answers to your question...
  
  Officially, you will probably need an oil that is VW approved (505/506/507 etc) and if you believe that other lot of German nitwits that live in Stuttgart, it will need to be at least ACEA A3/B3/B4.
  
  Unofficially, this oil will be fine especially for a petrol engine. Virtually all VWs & Audi that are sold in the US run perfectly happily on oils that are not too dissimilar to this Carlube 5W30.
