Carphone Warehouse Talkmobile network are offering a free sim card on a 6 pounds per month tariff which gives you 50 free any network minutes and 50 free any network texts included. You also get 500 free texts per month to other people on Talkmobile.

It's a rolling 30 day contract and it's only a month's notice to cancel.

However... you get 2 months free... so if you give your notice after 1 month you've had the minutes and calls for nothing! Really good deal, especially if 2 of you have it and text each other!

First deal, hope it's a good one...

go through carphonewharehouse link at quidco

If it is indeed vodafone supplying the network infrastructure you will probably find this sim will work in most phones that are simlocked to vodafone as well as unlocked handsets..

Although I can't guarantee that to be the case, I have a SE z520i thats locked to vodafone and it will accept a btmobile sim...

Used to have a siemens MT50 locked to t-mobile that would take a virgin sim as well.

Think it depends on how the locked the phone if they SP locked it or Subsidiary locked it as well

cheers Op

Just ordered 1, will do 4 couple months if nothing else.

I don't think you will £60 on the Virgin SIM deal. Yes, it tracks at £60 then a few days later it will change to £5.

I'm a bit puzzled - it doesn't seem to give any details of charges anywhere - or are we supposed to assume that they're the same as for the 'Pay Monthly 12' price plan?

And whilst it says things like "50 minutes of calls", I can't see where it specifies what sort of calls they might be.

Is there a page detailing T&C's anywhere?

Can't see any T&C's anywhere, but the tariff does seem to be the same as the Pay Monthly 12, just without the contract term...

The other pages that talk about bundles confirm they're to any network, so the 50 mins and 50 texts are any network, but the 500 texts are to talkmobile only...

really good deal for occasional mobile use! to include international calls in the allowance is a great bonus at this price, even international mobiles are quite cheap to phone! number porting is no problem and is requested after SIM received. Info on T&Cs is found here: http://www.talkmobile.co.uk/home.php?page=simple.

Can someone just explain for dummies again, how I get from quidco via CPW website to the SIMple offer (tried TalkTalk but got stuck there...)

Yes, that's the conclusion I came to as well. I think I'd prefer to see it in writing though, rather than just making assumptions.

no its not simple and that is the problem for me. You must get your PAC code first as they need it before the SIM is issued. Se here

http://www.talkmobile.co.uk/home.php?page=simple

damn that is the same as you link - not working just goes to the offer page

go to the help page then second question in FAQ

to quote from this page

You can bring your mobile phone number from another mobile network to Talkmobile, but only if you arrange everything before you buy a Talkmobile product. You can only port your number if you buy a Talkmobile product from a Carphone Warehouse store or over the phone; you cannot port your number if you purchase a Talkmobile product online.

So not online and no quidco

Also not sure how long this deal will last and my T-Mobile 12 month cashback with e2save is not up till early next month :-(

I ordered over the phone and not online. Initially I was told I need my PAC code at the time of purchase - so I got it from my current network. Chap then went on to explain that actually he cannot use the PAC there and then but they will post the SIM card first, and once I have received it to phone Talkmobile with my PAC to port the number. If that's the procedure I cannot see why it would be any different for online orders. If all goes wrong, you can just return the SIM within 7 days ...

OK I will give them a call, that would suit me to port over say by the end of next week.

It has always been the case that Vodafone will not accept ports in after the sim has been issued so the info I posted made snse, but we will see.

Thanks for the info, will feedback later

From Quidco's CPW page, open another window to CPW's homepage. In the middle of the page, there are three blocks (colours: orange, purple and sort of pink/dark pink). The middle one (purple colour) was "Talk Mobile", that's it, click it and you can order the sim card from there.

This 'Porting ' of numbers is very strange.
I am with 'Fresh ' which is part of CarPhoneWarehouse. I wanted to take up
a deal with 'Talk Talk', also CPW .
I was told that while I could easily take my number(port) to another company,
I could not port to another company within the CPW group because, in effect,
they are the same company.
I said " But surely it should be even easier to keep my number within the same
company ?" Answer - " Can't be done " . How strange (and stupid) is that ?

Paul.
#31
Stupid, yes. You can port to a free PAYG SIM then port back (AFAIK).

Hmm.. getting a "Service Unavailable" when I click through to the CPW website to buy...

Virgin are best for this

Get a free Virgin SIM, there is a recent post on here somewhere.

Port out to Virgin, once its gone through call Virgin, get your PAC are go back to CPW.

Only problem is I do not know how this £6 SIM deal will last !

Can this offer be got in-store?

I went to the store this afternoon and asked about this deal and which network they are using. The guy actually told me I can cancel it after one month and got two months free call and text; and they use Vodafone network. So, I'm sure you can get this deal in-store.

Forgot to ask him this sim card can be used in a Orange-locked mobile or not (for my friend's mobile, not mine).

Hi, just a note of caution - Carphone Warehouse took an unauthorised payment of £500 off my credit card recently. When I got my bill and contacted them, they were totally unhelpful. They said they couldn't do anyhting until I faxed or photo copied my credit card bill to them.
Once I did this, they told me they couldn't do anything about it!!

Fortunately my card company refunded the £500 a few weeks later, but Carphone Warehouse's Customer Care is the worst I've ever come across.
