how soon? i thought they would take at least late 2012 if not 2013 buy that time if you do take a 24 month contract (iam not saying you should with 24 month mind you) out with them it would finish by the time 4G comes out? and you can see who's providing what then

The utter shambles 3G has been in the past 8yrs or so, I'm not holding my breath for 4G tbh. Only in the last year or two signals and data speeds have picked up otherwise it was an utter joke.
IMO, the mobile airways should be nationally owned and rented for by the operators - this way, we would get better infrastructure and value for our money.

WRONG,
LTE will not be coming to the UK until 2014/2015 earliest due to dispute over frequency allocation.
the uk for once is going down the right route instead of going with outdated wimax.

Whilst £12 per month for Unlimited Data is reasonably good, the £10 Goodybag deal that GiffGaff (MVNO on O2 network) is offering is better.

This gives 250 cross network minutes, unlimited SMS AND unlimited data all for £10 per month.

I use this in my Samsung Galaxy Tab - a brilliant combo!

With Giffgaff you do not receive a free phone so have to factor that cost in.

Like we did with data landlines before BT was privatised, you mean?

The rate new deals are appearing weekly on this site, I just don't see how anyone is willing to lock themselves into a two year deal. The landscape for mobiles is changing so fast. This idea of unlimited internet is just starting to take off. It's still kinda BS marketing with very real limits behind the scenes but its a step in the right direction. Metering the net is as silly as charging you per minute for watching TV. It just has to go away as an idea.

I think even if you have to pay a little more, its wiser to go with 30 day payg type contracts for now and just watch as this all plays out, jumping on the next best deal as it arrives.

I'm on the lookout now for a deal on an unlocked android phone. The prices are kinda silly at the top end but with a deal like this you're only buying into outdated low res phones like the HTC wildfire that won't run any decent apps before long because it doesn't have the resolution.

*resumes lurking behind the mobile deals bush waiting to pounce*
