May be store specific but Wilkinson in Scarborough are doing 1 L of Antifreeze for just 2p.

It is labelled up as 75% off but when you get to the till it comes through at 99% off, reduced from £2.39 per litre to 2p.

I bought one as a standby for next winter thinking it would be about 70p but when I saw how much it scanned at I went back and got another 3.

Still plenty left in store as of Saturday afternoon.

Definitely not online but could be in a store near you.

Good price for this.....but check that it suits your car first before putting it in.

My car requires OAT anti-freeze, so am not sure this would be suitable

Always best to check your manual first just to make sure but it says here it is suitable for all vehicles, Bottle says conforms to BS 6580 (1992).

Most new cars requires require different types of anti-freezes - DO NOT MIX

But good price for the "blue" anti-freeze

Wilko are great like this - I get a 99% off something or other every month or so - love it when it comes up 3,4 or 5p - the look on the cashiers face!

Only once - in Uxbridge, was the cashier a cow and actually re-priced item from 99% off to 75% off.

ps - I have never posted a Wilko deal as they are branch to branch, but have heat for this one which I'll checkout 2moro

I'm not a great fan of Wilkos clearance lines.

mostly because the majority of stock is not reduced at all and because their customer service is very bad.

my branch has a reduced to clear aisle.
However, once you take an item to the till, more often than not the item comes up at full price.
Its normally quite clear that the item should be reduced. because its an out of season item (like this antifreeze) or an old branding of a product.

Point this out to the person at the till and/or the customer services and you are greeted with a shrug and told that someone must have just left it on the shelf.

However, i have had the odd bargain reduced to 50% but when at the till more like 75%

Just make sure you check the receipt when you leave (the till wont tell you until it's been totalled

Antifreeze/coolant is needed all year round. You'll screw your car up if you just add water, or just add undiluted antifreeze. Wilkinsons is handy for deionised water (do not put tap water in your engine unless it's an emergency - it causes scale and furring like in your kettle and makes the expansion tank difficult to see through).

water in which part of the engine, are you saying you need de-ionised water in the radiator, windscreen wiper reservoir etc???
stphnstevey#13
de-ionised water is just for topping up the battery

antifreeze also goes off - how long a useby date does this have?

And the reason you don't want to use tap water in your battery is the same reason it's not such a good idea in the radiator/engine (it contributes to a build-up of deposits and can reduce water flow and impede cooling properties). If you go to Halfords and look at the pre-diluted coolant it will say it's diluted with deionised water - and the deionised water they sell they recommend for use in cooling systems. Do not use tap water in a car's cooling system unless you really have to. Deionised water is only 52p a litre in Wilkinsons so unless you're a real cheapskate...

Coolant doesn't go off although in use it loses it's anti-corrosion inhibitors during use. Blue coolant needs to be renewed every 2 years in an engine (drain [flush if coolant change neglected] and replace).

Red coolant should be changed every 5 years or so (some manufacturers make claims of coolant not needing to be changed).

As mentioned above don't mix colours of coolant as this can cause sludge in some combinations.

As was wondering how a life the antifreeze has?

This was 25p the other day in Halton Lea Wilkos, Runcorn. It was located on one of the aisle ends from memory... :)
