This is an excellent price and represents fantastic value. The Fury gets excellent reviews e.g. http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/bikes/mountain/product/fury-10-35495/

Halfords do not have a brilliant reputation in everyone's eyes so it may be worth having any bike professionally checked by your local bike shop.

I bought a Scott Aspect 30 from my local bike shop, cheapest price online was £549 he knocked £25 off, built the bike and said to take it back after every few rides to keep it in shape. Its an awesome bike too, prob on par with the above Cube model, which are overpriced for what they are. I'd never buy another bike from Halfords, they even put the water bottle carrier on upside down... would you trust them after seeing that?

I agree! But if anyone's interested the Dart 3 is selling on JeJames for £64.99! (Probably gives you an idea of it's popularity).

This is another to consider in this price bracket:

Boardman Comp
#9
Boardman Comp has a Recon (!)... how do halfords get such good forks for the money.. def. consider that bike.
#10
I guess they have the buying power so can spec their bikes very well for a good price. That boardman is also a good bike
#11
The Boardman's also a very light bike for this price range:

Boradman comp: 11.8kg
Carrera Fury: 12.6kg
Cube Attention: 13.1kg

Kafkaesque

What size frame is that based on?
#13
Not sure to tell the truth, just going off the quoted weights on Bikeradar. Probably the small...
#14
Fair enough!

The boardman comp is more of an xc bike where as the fury is a built to take a lot of abuse on some pretty rough tarrain.

The fury has won loads of wards for being the best bike for under £700....if it's in your budget then buy it.

If you people need more advice then go to the best bike forum on the net and ask some questions or read some threads.

I would take a look on a specialist bike forum - try http://www.bikeradar.com/forums ask your question on there and I'm sure lots of people will give you their opinions.

I'd suggest you need to try a bike before you buy - all bike geometry is different so don't go by the size guide go by what feels comfy. it also depends on what you want to do on your bike - is it downhill, trails, canals paths, commuting etc?

I think that you are too late now. For a short period, Halfords were sending out a 10% reserve & collect voucher for signing up to their email offers.
#20
Yeah that voucher expired a little while ago now unfortunately

There is now a new 10% discount code for Carrera bikes - AFFCRR04

I am in love with the Fury but my budget is £500, absolute maximum. At present halfords shows the price of fury as £579.99. Any codes for the 20% discount? The NUS code only gets 10% off.
#23
I'm in the same boat, I too want a Fury, but can't afford the £579 price tag, believe the new Carrera Fury will be released in September, but would like to think that the current Fury will drop in price again, just so that can sell the last few bikes!!
#24
I imagine they will heavily discount the Fury again but stock will be in short supply so you'll need to move quick!
