feel for you KERMITZBITZ. why by a decent bike like this when you can by a rubbish one from argos for less.

The forks on this bike are worth over £200.
#6
yes i know Gambo22.. I've been looking into getting a MTB and I've been researching for a month or so now. Saw this and thought I'd post it as someone will get an absolute bargain. I notice Canada16 hasn't come back with a better specced bike for the money yet.

It's cos certain tossers dont understand the site. I put some bike wheels up the other day, 699 everywhere and i found them for 499 and they voted cold.

You could put a rolex up for 500 quid and some muppet would cold vote cos they think 500 quid is too much to spend on a watch

I hate carrera but then im a snob but i still voted hot cos i recognise its good value. Cant say cheaper than anywhere else cos its halford exclusive but still good value

I bought this new off Ebay last year for the same price. Was an excellent dealer as it was retailing for around £550. Stunning bike, for both performance and looks. It won Best Bike £600 & under at MTB and got a review of 5/5.

Someone tried to nick it on my first ride, but the police caught them and recovered the bike undamaged! Be warned it really is a stunning bike.

They wont be happy for long esp if they go off road. Some bikes should come with a health warning if going off road. It could be potentially lethal.

Iv known people buy bike after cheap bike cos they are so bad. My bike cost over 2 grand but it's bullet proof, never had anything break and im abusive. i hope to keep it for life so in that sense its a cheap bike

What bike do you have Elton Chong?

I have a kona coiler deluxe.

Changed the gears and went for shimano saint shadow cos ALL expensive bikes come with some crappy components. These gears are bullet proof.

Im not exagerating when i talk about crappy components. I was shocked i was looking at a 3 grand bike the other day and still some crap on it. Only way to get what u want is build it up.

Also have the crank brothers adjustable seat post and pedals.

Im going for the crank brothers wheels in about a weeks time and then the bike should be complete.

Who gives a fork about that? LOL

Hot, but make sure the Halford's monkeys set the bike up properly. Went to pick this bike up today.. they hadn't even bothered checking the wheels went round - by which i mean the front brake caliper was so badly adjusted it was hitting the spokes!

Amateur shop, Pro bike.

Deal was so good I sent it to my brother and we bought 2 of them. The funny thing is, their going for more than 430 on ebay second hand. Deal expires on sunday night so It might be worth making the leap if you are on the fence.
#30
And cheers OP that's saved me alot of money I would of spent on a specialized of no higher spec.
#31
Took the plunge myself as well. Couldn't quite work out how to get Quidco 4.5% for an instore purchase - they seem to have taken the money straight from the card when I did the Buy & Reserve thing. Heat added as I was interested at the original £549 price
#32
Awesome deal you got yourself there.. glad it helped :-)

My 6 year old battered Fury is still going strong......replaced pedals, tyres and BB..........Well worth the money and quick XC

Showing at £549.99 for me:(

Is this expired?
#35
Should be picking mine up tomorrow.

@KERMITZBITZ: I am in love with the fury but my budget is £500 (absolute maximum). Currently halfords says its just £20 off which comes to £579.99. How did you get 20% off? Any help highly appreciated!
#37
Isaha1, from time to time Halfords do a deal on Carrera bikes. You're missed out on the £439 price and a new model is due out imminently so it mighty not drop to that price for some time. You could try ebay for a 2nd hand one.

I'm looking for a hardtrail mountain bike at the moment that I can also use for short distance commuting to work and back so would probably also get some road tyres and need to lockout suspension. I need the gearing to be able to get up hills anyway on the commute as I live in hilly area so this type of bike would be ideal as I will also get out in the Lakes, Wales and Scotland on trails etc.

I am returning to bikes after a long break so have a lot to learn. I have been looking at a lot recently like this one and have been considering things like Carrera Fury, Voodoo Hoodoo, Giant Revel X1 and also Specialised Hardrock Sport Disc INT and the Rockhopper.

Following the link to the Halfords site it doesn't look like they have the 16" Fury in stock anymore. Is the Fury a lot better than these other bikes I mentioned because of the front shox alone? Or there are other reasons to consider? What do you think of the other bikes I mention?

Thanks,

John
