I'm just doing a self build and I've used the Shimano 2010 Alivio groupset that's on this bike and for the money it's a racking groupset. Shares some of the features of the higer end SLX kit, hyperglide and octalink BB (old Alivio had square taper BB). I mean the Alivio groupset alone is worth £150-200.

Really good deal this I think .

excellent Rockshox TK forks will set you back a minamum 0f £160....Probably the best bike deal posted this year.

The components on this bike make it somewhere between a Kraken and the fury in the Carrera range

are you doing it on or off road?

this is the better bargain of the 2 bikes mentioned....but the subway would be better for road use.

On road and trails, yes the Subway looks better for what I want! And if I was sensible I'd defo go for that one!! ;)

Would changing the tyres make much difference do you know?

Thanks

If I was choosing for you I'd take this one at the current price, the forks have a lock out so still good for road use and a set of smoother tyres will help on your C to C, you just sacrifice a little weight over the Subway.....live with it, you are getting quite a lot more bang for your buck.

I really wanted a Specialized Sirrus Sport for cycling to work, I am so tempted to get this due to the price and those big wheels will help a lot in the snow. Either this or Subway or hold out to get Specialized Sirrus Sport

Bought an XC1 from halfords (they still sell it) and got crashed into which totalled the front wheel, rang them up to buy a new wheel and they say they cant get one haha wouldn't matter so much but as the wheels are white and exclusive to halfords... Makes me laugh that they can get a back wheel though apparently :(

Showing up as £319.99, and found stock of the 18" frame at the Aintree, Edge Lane, Bromborough and Speke Stores if that helps anyone??
