If the £2 ben and jerry's is over in Asda I might go for this... Love the cookie dough but being careful not to go overboard :P 1 tub a fortnights more than enough.

Don't like to cool your fervor, but don't you think Carte'Dor ice-cream is pretty nasty? How can you move from B&J's or H'daz to this and not complain... (sorry, cold for me).

I would agree that HD and B&J are better quality but carte d'or crema di mascarpone is absolutely divine and there is nothing else like it. The sauce tastes like that which you used to get from the ice cream van when you were wee and the ice cream is soooo creamy and the pistachios just top it off nicely.

Scrummy!

Stores should have loads, theyve been ordering them by the 1000's this past week.

Why don't they sell the dark chocolate one in this country?!?!?! It's SOOOOOO good

Made with reconstituted milk... Mmmm...
#14
I guess it's only me who prefers Sainsburys cheap 70p vanilla ice cream (1L) to all this expensive stuff then?

Is that soft-scoop stuff really made from such a high-quality ingredient? I thought it was just a litre of vegetable fat with some odious flavouring...

Just coz you dont like the ice cream mate it does'nt make the deal `cold' does it? The deal is excellent, just your taste in ice cream is poor ;)

Carte D'or Lavazza is my favourite, an amazing coffee flavoured ice cream. Their Greek Yogurt & Honey is excellent too. Both are 900ml. Applesink, I'm shocked you have described Carte D'or ice cream as pretty nasty. That is OTT and is a gross exaggeration. What is nasty is Tesco's Value Vanilla Flavour Ice Cream 2 Ltr. Was 45p recently increased to 55p. I tried it out of curiosity and had to throw is away.

Yes, Ben & Jerry's and Haagen Dazs are suberb but remember they are only half a litre in volume.

Your not alone spladam, I think Sainsbury's Vanilla Flavour Soft Scoop Ice Cream is excellent and represents the very best value. It's actually 2L in volume not 1L.

I use to buy Tesco Soft Scoop Vanilla Ice Cream 2 Litres as it won an award for best Vanilla Ice Cream. It was usually out of stock when I shop in the evenings so I tried the Sainsbury equivalent which I prefer. Flavour wise, I can't tell the difference but the Tesco one is inferior as it usually contains pieces of ice.

Here in the South East, both have recently increased in price from 69p to 85p but for a 2 Litre tub it still represents unbeatable value. Not to be confused with Sainbury Basic and Tesco's 55p Value Ice Cream (disgusting). That 30p difference is worth every extra penny.

Drizzle a little real Maple Syrup over Sainsbury's Vanilla Flavour Soft Scoop and you have a wonderful flavoured Ice Cream that's the most cost effective.

Haagen Dazs and Ben & Jerry's are far too expensive for me.

I bought a few Ben & Jerry's when Tesco reduced them and even at half price I didn't feel I was getting that much value for money. The tubs are only 500ml.

Absolutely!

It wouldn't surprise if Tesco value is made with regurgitated milk or a litre of vegetable fat with some odious flavouring but the vanilla 'soft-scoop' is completely different to the 'value' and 'basic'. No comparision!

Perhaps it's not nationwide then.

Occasionally there are exclusive offers that are unique to an individual store or region and/or in store only. This is usually to do with too much stock close to the sell by date. This occurs in all food stores across the UK. Staff can always check with their Head Office.

errrrrrr ?????

What are you talking about?????

I never said anything about a deal. You have completely misunderstood my post! You have quoted my response to a manager's post and I also used the word 'perhaps' ?????

I don't even know if the deal exists! I never said that! In fact, there isn't a Morrisons any where near me.

Do read carefully before you quote and reply!

I've just returned from a trip to the States where you could pick up Ben & Jerry's at Wal-mart for about $2.60 (about £1.30 at today's rates) so this deal is the perfect come-down! Mascerpone Catre D'Or is excellent.

If I remember rightly Haagen Dasz was about £1.50 too in Wal-mart (not even on offer!)

So UK supermarkets need to get their act together and get nearer our American cousins in prices as even though I missed out on the £2 Ben & Jerry Asda deal while I was away - that's still a fair bit more expensive than US prices without any real justification for the price difference!
