This seems like a great buy for anyone with a HD-DVD player. Have never noticed this one in the list and seems like a bargain to watch a great film in high definition.

Martin Scorsese, one of America's most influential filmmakers, returns to the world of mobsters, greed, and excess that he explored so compellingly in 1990's GOODFELLAS. Set in the 1970s and revelling in the minute details of how Las Vegas casinos operate, the film chronicles the rise and fall of casino manager Ace Rothstein (Robert De Niro). As the king of his domain, Ace efficiently runs the business and regularly sends lots of cold cash to his bosses. Helping him keep the casino's employees and customers honest is his best friend, Nicky (Joe Pesci), a violent sociopath. Although Ace aims to run a relatively respectable casino, the volatile Nicky wants to take over the entire gambling mecca, and when Ginger McKenna (Sharon Stone), a seasoned Vegas hustler, enters the picture, Ace and Nicky's friendship is complicated even further. As drugs and alcohol become a bigger part of Ginger's life, all three are eventually brought down by their own greed and blind ambition. CASINO shares many similarities with GOODFELLAS, beginning with a script that was cowritten by Scorsese and Nicholas Pileggi. Regulars De Niro and Pesci are first rate once again as the dissimilar companions, but it is Stone who steals the show with her gruelling, intense performance.

Wait, HD DVDs don't work any more do they? Everyone bought players that magically stopped working overnight once they were declared the losers to Blu Ray.

Poor HD DVD, I always liked you more than Blu Ray with its evil copy protection actually being a pain to stop me watching my Blu Rays on my PC.

HD-DVDs are a dead format, they are the modern betamax, etc, etc, etc - thought I'd get in before the bluray fanboys! :p :giggle:

Why do the compare to BETAMAX! Serious I hate these wars!
I have both so im not complaining.

One is still avalible, one isnt. BIG DEAL!!

Not to provoke any arguments but honestly, is there a major difference between HD-DVD and blu-ray. I've only ever seen the latter in use. Surely there can't be THAT much of a difference right? :?
#15
good hd dvd, but this title must have already made the mould at hmv

i have both and have like 80 hd dvd's and 12 blu rays, why pay like £15 a movie on blu ray when you can get it for £3-4 on hd dvd, when they're both identical

This was £2.99 when dinosaurs were roaming the earth. Colder than an Eskimo's jockstrap.

This has been £2.99 for about 10 months !!

Just ordered Twelve Monkeys, Casino and American Gangster. £2.99 each, great stuff, i'll get the toploading player with the remote control on a wire warmed up.
#26
Heh remote control on a wire, that takes me back, play stop and pause only mine had :w00t:

Anyway good price, wether its old or new, i bought so many 2.99 HD-DVD's its unreal, perfect especially for media centre owners with blueray drives as most (if now all) play both formats.
#27
sad to see it go, but it lives on in my house :)

266 movies, most costing this price (bagged about 50 with the reusable £2 off anything hmv voucher)

betamax? Pah, My Pye Video 2000 with is double sided cassettes and goto command (in 1982) will slay your inferior formats. This laser disc nonsense will never catch on.
#29
HD DVD IS the better format and will upscale a normal DVD. Blu-ray wont! Ordered Bourne Supremacy.

Hot for me :-)
