we bought the 7 or 8mp exlim a few months back and i cannot fault it at all - good cameras and great pics when printed out!
#5
Great price for a very good camera.

I've had 3 Casio DigiCams now and they've all been excellent.

£78 with free delivery from Laskys though for the black or pink. Although only 2.5% Quidco.

Looks like they droped their price in the meantime. Before I posted this deal I checked the prices and Laskys price was definetely higher then the one I posted.

Fantastic price. Just picked a black one up via collect at store option, and as Quidco now pay on collect at store items from Comet, price ends up £76.23.

review: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2007_reviews/casio_ex-z1080.html

Bottom line - Casio's EX-Z1080 is a great addition to their Exilim Zoom line. With its outstanding performance, easy of use and huge collection of "Best Shot" modes, this is a great choice for anyone considering an ultra-compact consumer camera. With a MSRP of US$279, it is a great value for a 10- megapixel in this category.

Great find. I will buy one these - probably from Lasky a PINK one for my wife :0).

Yeh this is not slim like the exilims are supposed to be, this is a regular chunky cheap camera.

The EX-S10 is much slimmer and only £149.99 from camerabox.

Why? the reviews are good
#12
yeh just bought one today for my son...resever several times over the weekend

dont use point and shoots much as i use a canon dslr with pro lens...was looking for a cheap point and shoot camera for my son for ideally less than £80...initally looked at samsungs 1050/850/860 but was appalled by the image quality

then though about the canon a470, few fetures but for the money image quality is fine....then saw this about 3 days ago which seemed like a decent deal...had to keep it quiet as im sure they will disappear raidly from the shelves

any specific reason why? reviewers seem to disagree...for £79 you wont get much better (terrible kodak's/hp's, ok samsungs/nikon's, reasonable but bottom range canon's).......but i will soon find out

dont buy cause its 10.1 megapixels (really only means you can print large prints due to higher resolution)....its the sensor/image quality that is more important
#14
I've had a 3MP Exilim for years and fully intend getting Exilim another when this one dies.

All we use it for are holiday snaps, birthdays, parties etc. and it's fine. A few people have commented on how good the colours look on the holiday snaps and were shocked to find it was only a 3MP camera.

Only got it in the first instance for it's slimness but I'm more than happy with it.

the picture in the viewer is very grainy / pixelated

i bought it - was very disappointed - learnt my lesson not to cut corners - invested in the Canon Ixus 860 - beautiful large 3" LCD screen - twice the price, but the quality is tenfold

agree with the last point about cutting corners....

the viewer will not show what is produced, few do as its an interpretation of what the sensor will produce....thats why dslrs use a viewfinder...you may find the viewfinder is not so good but the print pictures are fine....agree that the canon would be better....to my mind

im gonna agree with the above comments too.

ive seen this model reduced to about this price in quite a few stores, which always sets alarm bells ringing.

you get what you pay for.

Go for one of the lower model Canon Ixus'. In the long run, its worth the extra mula

This camera is ace, if you want no fuss shots while your out and about having fun. Bought one of these for this very reason, as its a ruggid build and does the job, and for the price its a great camera.
#21
Pictures from this camera are absolutely superb.

I bought it a few weeks ago for £120 and am absolutely delighted with it. Stick a 4gb SD card from lay.com for £7-99, and you're sorted for less than £90!! :w00t:

Lol I've just ordered the same SD card! Ace stuff

I paid c. £150 for this 12 months ago. For £79, it's a bargain. OK - not the best camera in the world, and certainly not for low-light situations, but as a point-and-shoot in normal lighting it's ace. Good features, including Best Shot.

Heat added.

Thumbs up for this deal. Had this camera for the last few weeks and had no problems. Great price.

smooth and sharp on mine, no probs whatsoever. Maybe you had a bad one. Ive used the high rated FUJI F50D recently and this is as good. Some people will always find fault, too big, too small etc

very good ratings at

Good price - though I went into Jessops the other week and they had a lot of Casios on offer and both the sales guys said don't bother and go for Olympus, and even the new Nixon instead - but at this price still not a bad deal

Available online at laskys as well:

£78

Is the anti shake done by the increase of the iso setting or is it actual hardware that does it? I know the cheaper cameras tend to have the iso type.
#28
I bought this camera in October for £150 when it came out ! I had the first in Europe, nice picture but like many gets noise above iso 800.

has a lot of dumb assed options presets which are good. I just wanted a camera that could do 16:9 shots and have high res video in 16:9. This was important for me cos not many cameras when I did my selection supported this.

Laskys is owned and run by Comet, hence the price similarities.

When Comet have run out of stock, as will Laskys, same stock supplies.

I'd take a quality 6 megapixel camera with 5x optical zoom over this any day.

Best buy review by Gadgetshow (the one with Suzie Perry)
Despite packing no less than 10.1 megapixels, Casio's snapper is incredibly cheap and super-compact. It also packs in a surprising amount of features including face recognition and anti-shake, plus a video mode that records and encodes your movie clips at the perfect quality for YouTube. Its photos are impressive, with relatively low compression and noise levels.

I have this camera, nice pics but could be better. For £80 its okish, anyone who aint to fussed will be happy. I would say spend a few quid more and get something better - even if its less mega pixels.
#33
I bought one of these for the missus the day the offer started. I must say I'm impressed. I had a 3.3mp Casio years ago, and a 6mp Kodak after that.. this one is much smaller and pictures look very good. For the price, it's bargain.
#34
i gave pc world a ring and checked if they would price match comet's online web price.

they matched the price and reduced it by £5 and they also included free delivery, so the total came to £74.99 :)

Absolute nonsense.

This Casio is a good camera with results similar if not better than the Canon Ixus 75. I know as I have both. The Canon was £130 - get the Casio. And it is easier to hold as well.
#36
can anyone tell me what the macro mode is like on this camera?
I specifically want to take close up shots indoors (so the flash needs to not impair things) of jewellary and I have found with mobile phone cameras is a no go - will this type of camera enable a real close up shot stuff like wedding rings that are focused etc?
thanks
#37
This is a great camera, yes the LCD has a low pixel count compared to other models but at the end of the day picture quality is what counts.

The images taken are sharp all lover the picture even in the corners where most cameras suffer, it also have a large CCD sensor compared to other camera which means less noise

beastman macro is ok but dosent get super close compared to some other cameras, pics without flash are good as it has a large sensor so less noise.

Its being discontinued soon hence the low price, Comet must have done a deal with Casio to take stock off there hands, it happens all the time.

So what you are saying is if you saw a Ixus reduced to half price it must be **** and to set alarm bells ringing ?
#39
I picked up the Casio Exilim EX-Z1050 yesterday for £50 in Asda (impulse bargain buy). Haven't been looking for a cheap camera, but thought it would be fine for holidays. Might still return it though, as it's still all sealed in the box.

Whats the concensus on the 1080 - any good? I assume the 1050 is virtually the same, just an older 2007 model?

Im now thinking that I should get a recently released digital, but justifying the expense to the other half is the problem.
#40
It's £99.99 on Comet's site now.
