Thanks, I bought a THE casio calculator watch last year.

It's a classic retro timepiece tbh. Not sure about this model though.

Perfect for the gym, where it might get smashed, or if you are out running and don't want to get mugged for your Rolex.
#5
Tons of people still wear these. They have a retro look and are very sturdy as well as cheap.
#6
whats better? this or the Casio F-91W-1XY £8.61 (the classic one i think)

EDIT: This one is better it is actually waterproof not water resistant....its slightly bigger as well.

EDIT...again: Its not waterproof, just resistant...i don't know where i got that from. Shame i really wanted to go 50 meters under water for long periods of time.....and now i cant because of this watch.

One of these? Or the one with the touch keypad (CFX-400). Yes that IS my hairy wrist, and yes I AM a geek. And no I do NOT wear it every day, it is worth a small fortune in that condition. There is one on Ebay at the moment listed at £263 ($400) in considerably worse condition. The thing is, it will sell at that too.

Good spot OP.

Whack a fabric strap on these and they make a great outdoor pursuits watch. The watch is tough, long battery life, small (really quite small by the way), waterproof and has an excellent back light (kinda like the Timex Indiglo* one). I use one for climbing and hiking, and it does the job well - at under a tenner you don't worry about breaking it either. It does fluctuate in price, but this is the cheapest I've seen it.

As for retro cool, hhhhhmmmm? lol And that does make me feel old as these were what everyone wore at school when i were a nipper. That Ironman Casio takes me back ... damn that was cool in the playground!

The Casio F-91W-1XY is deffo the more classic rero watch. It's the one I had at school. I bought one a couple of years ago for the gym but ended up wearing it out quite alot. It gets loads of comments from people from my era, even a couple of copycat workmates went out and got one. One of them got the illuminator but it's just not quite the retro classic that the Casio F-91W-1XY is.

The FX91W has some issues if you fly to the US ;-)

The classic one is surely the MQ-24-7BLL? Great watch, and a mere £6!

But this isn't the 'classic' F91W!

These are actually quite cool in a retro way! Was thinkin of gettin the metal version me self!

I like the Delboy vibe of this classic. However at £24 it's a bit steep.

While the 86 is definitely a bargain and possibly the better watch, I reckon the 91 and 59 are the retro-chic winners.
#21
I can certainly say this is a great watch. I wear it to work on the wards and so easy to clean. Saves having to wear my Tag which a couple of times I've left on patients beds or on a table. In the gym, gets knocked about too.
Shame I bought it for twice the price otherwise would have bought 2.

I wear the chrome/stainless version & nothing else.
Due to breakages & losses, I have had 4 of them in 25 years.

It tells the time and I am familiar with the product, so no need to change. I also have no need to impress people with silly brands that mean nothing.

I got the Casio metal 'A168' retro watch over a year ago and have worn it every day since. I love it. It gets mixed reactions, but more positive than not. The finish wears off the watch edges (but not the strap) revealing a copper colour underneath, but it doesn't matter when you're only spending 20 quid and adds to the aged look. I'm contemplating getting a gold version too: http://www.casio.co.uk/Products/Watches/CASIO%20Collection/A168WG-9EF/At_a_Glance/

Now £6.35 :-D

:( and I think I threw mine away when I was clearing out some junk from my parents house a few years ago

Wearing an F-91w now and confirm they are 'water resistant' to 50m although the straps on this and the illuminator always break after a couple of years long before the battery goes and at these prices they are not worth replacing.

Bought another one at £6.68 last friday as spare. I had previous bought one when they were £9,99 in Jan. I think there is a slight imperfection with them?. If you look closely the display is not postion straight. The Hour digit is slightly skewed not parallell to the frame. I have sent one back due to this fault. The replacement is slight better but not perfect.

youre right fenland dragon, there is a slight imperfection, (i wonder if these are factory rejects) the display internally is slightly out of whack, its because the actual main hardware inside isnt designed precisely, but I took the one I got apart & realigned it :)

BTW dont know if this has been mentioned before but the actual shade of the watch is a charcoal/ dark grey NOT jet black...I was hoping it was black however for the price I guess hey

The price has gone even lower again, it's now £6.35 :)
