£20 is still a lot, it looks ugly. I got a Casio G-Shock Radio Controlled and Solar Powered for £35 off Amazon last year.

Nearly twice the price, you can buy a lot of batteries for £15 & ok if you always wear short sleeve shirts!!

Have to agree on the ugly, I bought one from Amazon a long long time ago, put it straight back in the box, sat collecting dust till i gave it up as a raffle prize at a local fair the other week.

Btw the watch isn't alu, its plastic painted silver

G-Shock watches, not that this one actually cost £15 to replace the battery because of all the layers and make sure its sealed back up properly. Last about 18 months. In the end my previous G-Shock was becoming discoloured so I put the money towards a new non plastic watch.

The watch unit is excellent and terrific value, if you forgive the ugly design. However, the appalling unreplaceable strap is designed to break quickly by the use of crack-propagating plastic deliberately thinned out in line of maximum stress between the holes . I have patched mine up with a DIY repair whose ugliness is exceeded only by that of the watch. :|

The strap WILL break within 18 months. Other than that a half decent deal.

What, get rid of the strap and superglue the watch to your wrist? A bit drastic surely?:?

I don't think this is "ugly" at all (the G-Shock range everyone quotes is *hugely* fugly - it's like having a freaking car tyre on your wrist - horrible!), although I must confess that the "satellite dish" in the corner is too large really and should have just been part of the bottom day-of-the-week display. I have one of these and it's a great watch with, yes, the classic Casio weakness of the frankly diabolical resin strap. I *always* break these, usually at the point where central prong goes into the other side's hole - the stress levels over time cause this to fracture and eventually crack right across (and you end up losing that snapped off bit quite often too!).

What's worse is that the strap is pretty well irreplaceable (or at least isn't obvious how you lever it off and put a new one on - if anyone's managed to do this, please tell us :) ). A shame, because this watch gets so many things "just right" (a DST indicator, being able to display DDMM format for the date - the first Casio watch I've ever had that's been able to do that, being able to shut off the function beeps completely, handling all timezones - including the 0.5 hour ones - and showing their 3-letter city name) and the strap is the only thing that falls short of an otherwise superb watch.

This is a total steal at 19.71 quid - I'm almost tempted to buy a second as a spare at that price!

Bought this about 15 months ago. Works perfectly. Excellent value for money and I don't believe this is ugly at all.
