Got one last time it appeared on here - and yes it is 100% perfect for a juicy steak - just be sure to read the seasoning instructions - basically coat it with oil and bake it before using it for cooking. If you do that, your steaks will be forever perfect :)

It's extremely heavy too - real quality bit of kit.

Those reviews put me right off. 50-50 chance of getting a decent pan by the sound of it.

My £5 Aluminiun griddle pan from M&S serves me well enough for now anyway (have cooked many perfect steaks on it :p ) -

No, you have a 100% chance of getting a decent pan. If you don't follow the pre-use instructions you will have every possibility of having a pan you don't rate.

great needed a new one thanks :)

Amazing price, I have a Le Creuset grill pan that cooks amazing steaks. I would assume that this cast iron pan will be as good. Definitely a bargain at this price.

Ignore the bad reviews of this product, they have no idea how to look after cast iron pans ...

nice one

you cant blame the tools if you doont know how to use them (_;)

I think people are missing an important point - that discount code applies to LOADS of cookware including le Creuset. I just picked up a 26cm casserole for the same price I missed in the much-hyped Black Friday sale, ie £77 instead of £97.

But don't go off half-cocked like I did. You can only use the code ONCE.

Mine comes up at £9.62 ???????????

I got one of these from Amazon a while ago and it is brilliant for steaks and burgers.

A good price although the reviews are mixed.
Bad reviews are almost all from people who don't understand cast iron cookware. It will rust if you don't oil it. Only needs oiling once every 6 months or so though. Also it's heavy. Finally you need to get it hot otherwise food will stick.

Also an aluminium griddle pan just won't be able to hold enough heat to properly sear a nice thick steak.

EDIT: Behold this gem from the Amazon reviews.

"I noticed that if I left it in the sink with water in it, it gets rusty quickly."

No kidding! This is an important scientific discovery.

Hot, but didn't work for me, waiting for 1 of these for a while.

Amazon is sold out. But you can still order. Need to wait for a few weeks for it to be delivered.
Voted hot. Thanks.

Some of the reviews mention the base not being flat, I fail to see how oiling and baking the pan will straighten it out...

As for Ally pans not holding enough heat to sear a steak, what a load of rubbish.

How can iron when cast not end up as flat as the cast? Impossible. Some cast ok and some didn't? Impossible. Sounds like they cocked up the pre-use seasoning and decided to pretend the pan was at fault!!!

If you don't like the sound of the product then simply don't buy one. You don't need to have a crusade against them. Many of us are most happy with the product. You don't even have one to comment on as far as I see.
