4 litres is a PITA though because most cars take 4.5 litres, which means you have to buy an expensive 1 litre top up bottle as well.

Not really as you just buy two of these and use the remaining oil as top up throughout the year.

You're in trouble if you need 3.5 litres to top up your car through a year.

How is it all other brands do 5 litre containers?

4 litres is perfect for my engine! With 5 liters I always end up with too uch left over

seems like a good price, some homes have more than one car and some of the 4x4s take more than 5 litres, never hurts to have a little more oil, people tend to keep putting the same stuff in their cars so theres more for next time,
#7
aint these this price in asda all the time. the amount of times they get posted on here then they must be

Its Oil not milk. If you don't use it all at once put it in your garage for when you need it. Now buy as much or as little as you want. Emergo-drama-crisis averted.

Is this mineral or semi-synthetic? I'm finding it very difficult to get hold of GTX mineral at bargain prices nowadays...

great price! saw these on friday! shame they don't do 5w 30. halfords are doing 20% off halfords 5l oils if you don't have an asda near u or need a 5w 30 oil or other.
#22
£14 at asda wigan, gtx was anyway,it was just on end of aisle
#23
I bought 10/40 of this from ASDA last Tuesday where it was £14! If I didn't need it so desperately at the time I would have waited out!

Good price for a good oil brand (if you can find a store wih stock..)

Just be real careful that this is the right oil for your engine.
The mineral / semi' /fully synthetic debate can be such a blind alley. You'll need the oil thats mentioned in your vehicles handbook. That should be described as a grade (ie 10w/40, 5w/30 etc.) but ALSO as a manufacturers approval number. This might be one of their own - VW group,Mercedes,BMW, GM, Ford and a couple of others have their own number system. If not it will state an ACEA code (ie A2/B2, A4/B4. etc.). Follow these and you cannot go wrong (well, you might just depending on how thick you are..)

I would put it down to knackered engine, 5w/30w will make it sound worse.(_;)

Not a lot of point changing the oil and not the filter though, so I take an oil and filter change is 4.2l X)

Why is it listed as a service option then? (slaps forehead)
In that case i'd buy 2 and save the rest for the next oil change that doesn't require a filter.

Maybe its because it'll make them more money if the old filter fails and the metal filings screw the engine? You had the option to change it but said no, therefore your fault. Just an idea. ~I guess the options there for tight ****.
