Just having a browse round our tesco extra and noticed that the Castrol GTX for Diesel engines is only £11.98 for 4 litres. This is not a reduction or anything just their normal price. I usually pay between £15 and £17 for this in Wilkinsons and Halfords have the cheek to charge £19.99!! I checked online but it doesn't seem to be available so instore only they may have it in the petrol stations ???. They also had ordinary Castrol GTX for petrol engines at a good price but I dont remember the exact figure.

VW Group 1.9 SDi / TDi Variant as seen in:

VW Golf, Bora, Passat, Beetle
Seat Ibiza, Toledo
Audi A4
Skoda Fabia, Octavia, Roomster, Superb etc...

All need 4 litres.

Beware of many dealers who charge you for 5litres at service time when in fact the car only needs 4. The missing litre gets "relocated" in mechanics car / resold.

Ahhh! Bongo. Brings back memories of making 4 trips (fully laden) from Liverpool to Czech Republic last year with car and trailer on the back WITHIN A MONTH (NOT recommended!). Was shocked to learn you are supposed to change the oil on the Bongo every 3000 miles! Two oil changes in a fortnight! Suggest you stock up! This will be fine as the Bongo uses an older design Ford Engine. Have fun ripping the carpet and interior out to fill it up! :whistling:

Ha! Yeah, you can get away with 5000 miles but still pretty regular for anyone doing average miles. Fortunately I live on the Isle of Wight and it takes me a year to go that far!

My mate (who owned the Bongo) asked me what oil to put in it and i stupidly offered to give him a hand. When doing the change the old stuff came out like treacle. I asked him when he last changed the oil. He said never. So i asked how many miles he had done in it, to which the response was 13000! Suffice to say it ran quite a bit better after two changes. Brilliant vehicle though. However i wasn`t too keen on sleeping in the roof during a lay-over in Belgium. :w00t:

They rock! but getting to the engine is a pain. Rock solid though and when looked after will run and run. Super practical camper and van. I use mine as a second car so don't clock up tonnes of miles. I also fill it with veg oil to save a packet on fuel prices. I currently pick up rapeseed oil at 86p a litre!

Oh you're so slow - it's been this price in Asda for a while. :)

Had 8.5l in my engine for the last three weeks - it's good stuff!
