i would guess so .its on an official clearance so stock maybe nil in some stores and plenty in others.its definitely worth giving stores a ring this is barcode 5010321001216.give them a ring and ask them to check stock before setting off to save a wasted journey.

That's the "best" oil for your car (according to castrol.)
They also list an "alternative recomendation", which just so happens to be - Magnatec 10W40

The same options were given for my Nissan

cheap price for an average oil for runabouts

A good oil for runabouts is likely to be a 10W40 or 15W40 mineral oil at well under a tenner for five litres.

Magnatec is a good oil - and claims to stick to the engine and not entirely drain to the sump when the engine stops - thereby offering more protection at start up when a normal oil would first need to be pumped up round the engine again.

Oil is cheapest in bulk containers from factors (where garages and mobile mechanics buy it) and expect to pay about 20 + VAT for 20 litres mineral and 25 + VAT for 20 litres of semi synthetic with per litre prices falling as container size increase.

Using a cheap oil of the correct viscosity and changing it twice as often as is specified, is far better than buying an expensive oil and sticking to the recommended intervals.

Its a good price for magnatec. The poster who said Vauxhall were cheap is right too, they often are. Same goes for their (pink) antifreeze and their sealed for life batteries. Quite often much cheaper than the likes of halfords.
#23
Not a bad deal for a middle/good quality oil

As the average car takes aaround 5 litres of oil - so it gona cost you £15 (3 of these) for the oil plus your oil filter call it £4 plus £1.50 for a new sump plug washer.
so thats around £20

National tyres will change your oil for you using castol magnetec 10W-40 for £24.30, Castol Edge 5W-30 for £28.80 plus you get tesco point to  for the extra few quid Id let them do it

What cars will this work with?

Works on most modern petrol engines (check manufacturers recommendation for grade), I used this on my Saab. Excellent price, I paid a lot more on offer at halfords.
Word of advise: when checking which oil your car needs, double check the amount needed, mine was half a litre short!

That's only for trade though through a trade account, normal retail is £27 for 5 litres. I have a trade account at Vaux and always use their oils, Magnatec is good stuff but a rip off ! Thanks for posting though mate always good to see something a bit different.

It is a good deal, but I would not touch magnatec with a shi**y stick, it is a lot of marketing hpe for a mediocre oil, but as someone said a good oil for a runaround!

Agreed, this will be ok for my MG, but i'll stick to Mobil1 for my VW
#28
Castrol make good engine oil. It basically depends on what type of vehicle you have. I have always bought castrol as I've mainly had Japanese cars. Never had a problem with Castrol.

I have to agree with Roshan, Magnatec oil is a very good quality oil and it really depends on the car its used with and the type (5w-30, 10w-40, semi synth, full synth).

I've used the 10w-40 full synth for 3 years which is perfect for my car (which rev's upto 8,200rpm and is infamous for burning the wrong or low quality oil, yet with the Magnatec - I barely have to top it up).

Yes, there are other brands which are very good (Mobil, etc) but once you've got the right type of oil for your car, then all the named brands are all pretty much the same.
#30
Would you happen to know is Castrol Edge 0w30 is also on the offer? This normally costs £40 for 4 litres.

Fraid not if you talk to people in the know, castrol have cut quality and increased marketing, maybe 5 years ago you would have been right!

Last time I looked Magnatec didn't do a fully synthetic?

There is a car club, that carried out independent tests and catrol came out the worst I am afraid to say
#34
i didnt realise how hot this would get.i have bought 2 more today so anyone thats bought some can you please let others know where you found it in stock cheers.ps and im happy to get rep not had any yet lol

What about the semi-synthetic motor oil in Lidl - £8.99 for 5 litres. A better deal by my reckoning
