Yeah just saw that. Sorry :(

Isn't A1 specifically for Ford petrol engines ? Hope the other types are the same price. I think Vauxhall are A3/B4 but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

    Great price btw

For Ford petrol & diesels. Yes Vx is as stated A3/B3/B4 and is also this price at Halfords.

    Its really mainly marketing bumph.

Its fully synthetic so obviously better than any normal 5w30 for longevity.

Seems A1 + A5 is best for longevity.

    ACEA

This is the European equivalent of API (US) and is more specific in what the performance of the oil actually is. A = Petrol, B = Diesel and C = Catalyst compatible or low SAPS (Sulphated Ash, Phosphorus and Sulphur).

Unlike API the ACEA specs are split into performance/application catagories as follows:

    A1 Fuel economy petrol
A2 Standard performance level (now obsolete)
A3 High performance and/or extended drain
A4 Reserved for future use in certain direct injection engines
A5 Combines A1 fuel economy with A3 performance

    B1 Fuel economy diesel
B2 Standard performance level (now obsolete)
B3 High performance and/or extended drain
B4 For direct injection car diesel engines
B5 Combines B1 fuel economy with B3/B4 performance

C1-04 Petrol and Light duty Diesel engines, based on A5/B5-04 low SAPS, two way catalyst compatible.
C2-04 Petrol and light duty Diesel engines, based on A5/B5-04 mid SAPS, two way catalyst compatible.
C3-04 Petrol and light duty Diesel engines, based on A5/B5-04 mid SAPS, two way catalyst compatible, Higher performance levels due to higher HTHS.

Note: SAPS = Sulphated Ash, Phosphorous and Sulphur.

Put simply, A3/B3, A5/B5 and C3 oils are the better quality, stay in grade performance oils.

I love it when some one posts engine oil! I learn so much! seriously i have learnt more about engine oils specs on this site than anywhere else! but still people go by brand name rather than read the specs on the side

Thanks, this is what I was looking for.

They also have Castrol Magnatec 5W-30 A3/B4 if you have diesel for same price
    LadyEleanor
The other thing that seems to be happening is that with fuel economy directives, manufacturers are putting 0W20 and 5W20 in, no doubt to save taxes.

The thinnest oil, in this case, means more mpg with no real guarantee being best for the engine.

Email Amazon, and they will refund the difference. Cut off is a week I think. Did it for me twice on various things.
