So your saying the cheese stopped you from shopping in Aldi?

This cheese has a very long expiry date usually a few months. Usually stock up when this offer is about. Otherwise the normal price is £5 which is steep!
#18
Good price. I paid £5 for 2x350Gms last week at Co-op

Thats because you eat too much cheese.(_;)

I am told that people freeze these blocks of cheese but I have no idea whether that is safe to do or not?

You can freeze cheese if you have a surplus or find a glut. Most cheese is just fine for weeks in a regular fridge though, and personally I've never had any issues with Aldi cheese but what a shame for those who did.
Freezing works really well with soft cheeses as they come out just a little more 'ripe' than when you froze them, but it works with block cheeses too. However I would say that it does harden up a little more after being frozen, which shouldn't be an issue with the regular processed blocks but might be more of a problem with the drier extra mature ones. Make sure to defrost them slowly ideally on a piece of kitchen roll to absorb moisture. I probably wouldn't keep soft cheeses, or any cheese, too long as I'm sure the flavour will deteriorate, and they will dry out even more, but a couple of months has been fine in my experience. And know that they will stale a little more quickly once defrosted so best to perhaps cut it into smaller usable pieces before you freeze.

Is it the 'vintage 20' on offer as well (as it was last month)? That extra strength version is lovely...

Edit: quick look online and yes it is:)

Sorry I meant when I am purchasing this via tesco.com it is charging me £4.00 although the red banner of "Was £4.00 now half price to £2.00" is there!
Have Tesco not updated the offer online or am I just being stupid?!

Morissons has a major brand cheese offer at £2 every week. Not really a deal at this price anymore

Sometimes they're slow updating the prices, and when you get it it's fine, but I have had stuff that was meant to be on offer that I've ordered where the price hasn't changed on the page and it has gone through at full price before so I'm always a bit wary when the discount isn't actually showing. You can get in contact with customer services and get them to refund you later but it's still annoying.

Just to let you know called tesco earlier I did leave message here but for some reason didn't show. They said they are aware its not taking discount off online also it wasn't at tills apparently. But it will take money off when order is picked I paid full price but been told when I collect order tomorrow it will be corrected as they don't charge your account until order is picked up. Hope this helps if its still not taking discount off.

Cathedral City Extra Mature is same price at £2 for 350g or £5.72 / kg.
#36
Cathedral City Vintage also £2 but 300g or £6.67 / kg.

Tesco really are taking the mick, pretending this cheese was originally £4,what rubbish, this cheese is regularly on offer for £2 or less at morrisons and we shop there every week, really are taking people for fools.
We never spend more than £2 on a 350 gram block of cheese, they are constantly inflating the original price of cola and Pepsi as well, not that the competition are all innocent though!
#38
Greedy sods at morrisons are also selling the same product, same stupid discount, seems like a bit of price fixing going on,like I say this product is regularly for sale at £2 or less, would never pay £4,such a joke!
