The Somerfield's in Gorseinon had loads so I presume all stores have this offer on.

love it but do you know if the lighter one is included in the deal?

I didn't see the lighter one or the mellower flavour one either.

My children weren't so keen on the lighter one although in a cheese and marmite sandwich I couldn't tell the difference!:-D

I did a search to see if it had already been listed on here but nothing came up for Somerfield. I see from the link that you have put that they have spelt Cathedral incorrectly which is why I didn't find it!

Thank you.

I absolutely love this cheese, but I also love the Extra Mature that comes in the black packet.

I don't remember the exact price, but 2 days ago i picked up a 50% extra free ones of these (i.e. 600g) from Lidl for about £2.60ish. might have been as much as £2.90ish, but was definitely under £3.

It's a scream... you post it... cold as ice, someone else reposts it, and the heat climbs! :-(

Decent price but 50% off? Really? £4.20 usually? No wonder they have to put it on sale!

Asda have had the Lighter version in at £2 for the 400g packs for the past 2 weeks.

Cathedral city is always on offer in at least one of the supermarkets - around my area anyway! love this cheese, so hot from me :]

As previously mentioned, standard Cathedral City is always on offer somewhere at this kind of price, and seems to have been downgraded to a less mature cheddar of late, probably to facilitate a lower price-point. Only the black-wrapped Vintage variant is worth seeking out IMO.

agreed, voted hot but the mature is better.

I agree, made the mistake of buying this once, it's nasty, not strong enough at all. Only the black one is allowed in my house.

This is not a particularly special price, and nor is the quality of most 'branded' mature cheddars. It's nearly always too salty rather than truly matured. It also annoys me that 'mature cheddar' seems to make up such a high proportion of cheese on supermarket shelves.

Overall then, the best thing about standard Cathedral City is that it comes in a resealable, stay-fresh bag... :-D
