Pancake mix, grated cheddar ... are Asda shoppers so lazy these days?

Voted hot though.

With the price of cheese and most groceries going up, £5 per Kg is lower than average price point.

But pretty average for a deal on here. For instance everyday Asda or Tesco Value mature cheddar is about £5.19 as I recall.

Worth noting 30% less fat will probably mean 30% added water or 60% less taste!

Thanks for confirming that £5/Kg is lower than £5.19/Kg.

This actually tastes very good for a "lower fat" cheese compared to others I've tried.

I can almost guarantee that every time I go shopping Cathedral City, Pilgrim's Choice, or the McClelland's Extra Strong stuff is on offer at £5 per kilo. I can't remember the last time I didn't get this price. £5 per kilo is the most I ever pay for cheese, and this has been the case for ages.

Well, I can 100% guarantee that this is £5/Kg :)

Regardless of all this, this offer is for folks that like Cathedral City, the fact its Grated for convenience and someone might be trying to cut down on fat or on a diet.

Same price at Morrisons at the mo.

The normal ungrated not light is £4 for 2 400g bars which is good value and better than this.
The wife doesnt like mclellands or pilgrims choice so its not always easy to get what you like.

Shoppers will also notice that this form of 'brand named', plastic tasting, often crunchy textured, factory produced stuff is slowly taking over the cheese shelves at the expense of good cheese. Real cheese will soon be relegated to specialist expensive delis.

It pretty much already is from what I normally see. The problem is that cheese is a high-price item, and people just can't afford it, so they go for whatever is cheapest, which is usually one of these brands. Occasionally I'll get lucky, and the deli will have some strong Canadian cheddar on offer, but it's rare.
