This isn't your normal mature stuff. Its like the difference between lager and wine.

I hope they aren't 300g. I bought 2 assuming they were 350g!!!

If you want to eat real good cheddar, don't buy Cathedral City. I recommend the Arran Cheese Shop. Best cheese in the UK. This stuff is ok for toasted cheese I suppose.

The "vintage" or "extra extra extra mature" in the title means they are allowed to rip you off by one seventh. :(

I agree - this is much better than the Extra Mature - and £2 is a very good price. Asda usually sell two for £6.
Guess I'll be calling in at Tesco again soon :)

Too right it isn't the normal mature stuff - it's cheapo Cathedral City stuff, where the word 'vintage' has about as much relevance as FIFA has to honesty.

If you want decent cheese, forget all the nationally branded stuff - there isn't a decent mature cheese amongst the whole lot!

nice cheese. shame getting smaller

It does taste very nice, but as a pilgrim, it wouldn't be my first choice

Strange how the cheese has progressively shrunk over recent years but the wrapper has stayed the same size.

That's because the sneaky buggers trim it from the depth rather than the width.

The Extra Mature packets are 350g, the Vintage ones are 300g.

I am a bit of a cheese connoisseur and I wouldn't normally touch Cathedral City with a bargepole.

But after trying some the last time it was on offer, I was really surprised at how good it was. It is easily on a par with Tesco Finest Canadian Vintage, which is £3 for 200g.
