sounds a really good deal. But got a question!! We bought the house last year and the previous owners before us never had this done and they owned the property for approx 6 years.

How do i know if the property has had wall insulation done in the past?!
#5
That is a good deal, we had ours done years ago and it did more to save our heating costs than anything else

Look for the tell tale bore holes in the outside walls couple of metres apart and uniform.
Get into the loft and look for evidence at the top of the brickwork (at the point where the walls meet the roof)

ta for that!

Looking aroung the t'internet, i see EON (i'm sure other service providers will offer their own offers) are offering 3 bed semi's for £230. So i think B&Q are inflating the RRP. However, definately a good deal if you own a 5 bed detached!!

yep, definately a saving as the B&Q deal is a max of £198. But their RRP is way over inflated, BG are doing it for £230 or £250, EON about the same.

How on earth is there a delivery cost?
#12
Do you think you could get a grant to help with this???

also available via tesco (and you get clubcard points too!)

Hence the refund if the survey shows that you already have it, I guess.

A surveyor will come to your house and drill the wall. He can tell by a drill test if you have cavity insulation. And its free.

BEWARE!! had one of these estimators come around from the Tesco one a few weeks back and I have a 5 bed detached house. With the extras that you would have to pay after the MAX coverage, for wall insulation and Loft insulation the total cost would have come to over £1000.

Voted Hot though as it is a good deal for a smaller house.

Yeah, I'm kinda stuffed with a Semi, from my current guestimates I reckon it's over 100sq m.

True, but for cavity wall insulation my house came in at 210 SQM so depending on what the extra charges are for B&Q, it will work out at 70 x £5(tesco extra charge per metre) = £350 extra and thats just for cavity wall insulation. My loft insulation was also 21 SQM over which was also £105 extra, so total cost with B&Q for me would be (£198 x 2) + £350 + £105 = £851 (assuming same extras as tesco).

Like I said in the initial post just beware of the extra costs involved if you have a larger house (and my house is an average 5 bed)

Just applied for the tesco one as you dont pay untill they do the assesment
