Well I've stayed there a few times for £60 notes, also its in the middle of nowhere I don't think the terms nearby count you're looking at 15miles to center of cardiff - sod newport its dire and rough, bristol is about 40 mins with no traffic, McAurthur Glenn not worth its got to be 30 miles and Cardiff is better, Swansea is much further and a long way to go just for a beach as again why shop there when you got Cardiff. The hotel itself is fine (I actually was part of the team that built it) but its not really the place to go if you want to get out and about. I think its a deal at around £60 with a meal lol - me personally I like to go to Bath as soon as you're there everything is walking distance. Likewise some of the hotels in Cardiff would provide more opportunities. Not voted, just my views.

Ps if you do go for it don't let reception shove you down in the old hotel, its carp. Games room is good, Snooker tables are mint, food is ok :-) Golf is great. Plus be nice as they often upgrade you :-) If you want an hotel and do the things in the hotel then great you'll love it and its a deal. If you want to go to Cardiff, Swansea, etc get a hotel in town.

For those of us that have cars though, a run out to Cardiff/Swansea or Barry is not an issue (did I mention Newport?). Other than you thinking the location is wrong I don't see your problem. If I wanted a city centre hotel then I'd have stated that. A luxury hotel, well appointed and handy for a number of places is exactly what that is. I've never been offered the other hotel on site and have been upgraded a couple of times.

Swansea is an hours drive away ( 55 miles ) so it is an issue. Shopping's not great either. Check the facts before trying to justify your comments.

If you have come down from North or East England or North or West Wales then travelling 55 miles to Swansea or 45 miles to Bath while staying in a luxury Hotel for £89 a night kinda negates your point. The Celtic Manor is a perfect platform to see places like these over a few days. If you want to Shop you would go to Cardiff, Bristol, Cribbs, Bridgend or even Cwmbran.

I think people need to take this deal for what it is, a Luxury Hotel B&B (All you can Eat) for £89 a night for 2 with great transport links to South Wales and Southern\Western England.

Take your own booze and save even more money, plenty of ice to keep it cool. 7 Restaurants on-site but if you fancy a cheaper meal then there are plenty of restaurants in the surrounding area's from fancy Italians\Indians\Bistro's to the established chain restaurants such as Toby\Harvester\Franky & Bennies\Pizzahut etc etc One of my favourites is a All you can eat Indian buffet in Cwmbran called Tiffins.

If you have a car then really you are quids in.

And Chaosrapture, most of the people in that show were from Cwmbran ;)

Couldn't have put it better myself. If you travel from out of Wales and don't mind a simple journey down the M4 to Swansea then it's great. We usually smuggle a KFC back into the room to save a few quid and then stuff ourselves in the morning on the breakfast. We had a suite last time for just £100 more, was absolutely brilliant.

If you fancy a little luxury and a good location for the surrounding area then you tell me of a better deal!!!

Oh, and Swansea market is great if you fancy the trip down there on top of the Mumbles etc.

At last some comments to restore my faith in humanity.

Some people don't go to cities to get drunk and fall about, some just go to enjoy the city or the countryside around them.

This hotel is cracking and at £89 inc breakfast in the summer holidays is hard to beat anywhere (for two people)

I completely agree with you. My mentioning of the night life was only supposed to be a joke which apparently got taken too seriously :).
