My wife wants to go to Sherwood in May, are centreparcs any good? Is it better to book earlier or is there a chance of a better deal or promo code a bit later in the year?

Hot deal from what i've been looking at.
#7
you dont have to have 6 people though do you? 3 of us could go surely and just pay £199?

They are great fun and we go twice a year. UK holidays are more popular than ever now so my opinion is always book in advance especially if you are limited on when you can go. We booked for October 11 over 15 months in advance to get a 'good' price, and it is now £80 more than what we paid so you could say that prices often go up, than reduce.

I have not seen a discount code for ages - they don't need to discount as people are paying the asking price, there is also no cashback options. As with everything if you want quality, you have to pay for it.

I would think these offers are good, because it is off peak and Jan/Feb are not popular months.

Hope this helps, but look at others comments - you wont be disappointed!

Correct - It's a per unit price, so it's the same if you have 1 person or 6 people.

When we went we found that the 3 bed lodges were cheaper than the 2 bed, there were only 4 of us too. I guess the 2 beds are more popular as people dont think of booking the 3 bed unless there are 6 or more but the price is for the lodge not per person.

I take it you don't go outside either.

Outside school holiday time :(

We use to go every year, but not any more, I think the standards have really slipped and although it sounds cheap you need very deep pockets once you're there as everything is very expensive.
#15
make sure you take loads of money with you, it's a rip off

Yes, I remember when we took the kids there and with the 3 of them doing a few activities a day and meals out etc we were spending about £300 a day!

Once you get there it's as cheap or expensive as you make it. You can take your own food and just use the pool, go cycling, walking etc, you can fill every day with activities and eat out for breakfast, lunch and dinner or do something inbetween.

Six of us are going to Centre Parcs Elveden on 24th Jan. Booked a 3 bed en suite executive for £300. The executives have wifi too. The Comfort villas have one shared bathroom and a toilet with no wifi. Spend an extra £100 for an exec - worth it for 3 bathrooms and wifi.

Agree with this. It doesn't have to be expensive.

We went about 3 years running before my youngest was born 2 years ago and i love the place, mainly to have a complete break from work and get out on the bike loads and plenty of fresh air. Yes some places to eat etc are expensive, but you can self cater for main meals if moneys an issue.

We've never done any of the main paid for activities but there's still loads to do for kids with free play areas and swimming, some cheap play activities etc, plus the beach area, bikes etc. We also got lodges around the same lake and the kids loved the ducks and wildlife coming to the back window.

It is what you make of it so to suggest to people they'd have to spend hundreds when there is misleading. You might as well say avoid going to shopping centres because when we went we bought something that cost £1000.

Too many bad memorys Wife was violently ill during her stay, then i came down with some sort of bug after swimming in the pool. We were both so ill. Worst holiday ever..Too scared to go back.
#21
Yeh just pack your own food, take your own bike etc and its no problem. They are good family breaks, its a shame that it is so expensive to go usually.
#22
We went and were REALLY disappointed. Place was not even close to being clean, the decor was REALLY tired and grubby. For what it cost it was appalingly bad. We got our money back and left.

I have to agree with a lot of the comments here http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g209964-d523986-Reviews-Center_Parcs_Longleat_Forest_Village-Warminster_Wiltshire_England.html

No thanks....can't stand the place.
All the lodges need total referb, they are looking tired and shabby.
Cold from me not even for £199

!? No isnt a rip off, I have 4 kids. The pools are free, hire a bike or take your own. Take your own food. The point to center parcs, is to slow down, have fun also to spent time with the family. There are free shows as well.. 199 is great, I would recommend calling center parcs over booking over the internet. If you ask for extras over the phone your more likely to get them ....E.G. 2 cots ( have twins) extra bedding

When did you go then? Hmmmmmm it's NOT a rip off it's as cheap or expensive as you want it to be save money don't hire bikes etc. Tenpin bowling is quite reasonable £20 for 1 hour, kids stuff is free inc the kids disco, food prices are on a par with other restaurants and 2 adults 3 hours unlimited Aqua Sana use £44 I think that's really good value!!!

I love this place and have had many amazing holidays there over the years. This price is insane, and as others have said it's as expensive or cheap as you make it once you're there. Thanks!
#27
We hired an executive villa which included a hot tub, sauna and steam room. Well worth the extra. Centre Parcs is great and not too expensive if you don't eat out every night. The food is pricey but there are a number of chain restaurants. We also had a well equipped kitchen so was able to cook for ourselves some nights.

I'll certainly be going back this year.
#28
Great place but as with everywhere else if you want to take schoolchildren in holiday time the price goes through the roof! Having said that I would agree that you can have a great short break there without spending a fortune - well stocked supermarket reasonable prices, if you take your own bikes and cook in the lodge it can still be a really enjoyable break.

Longleat pool is an absolute DREAM! and it is free! I would suggest you just go prepared.

HEAT BTW OP well found!

I went in 1992, we got on the room and all the light bulbs had blown. I went to reception and they gave me a box of bulbs ffs I told them to get someone round asap to change them, the time we went it snowed the radiators didn't stop gurgling all the time whilst they were on. I wasn't prepared for the hiring of a badminton rackets we got charged £11, the shuttlecocks were cheaper but we could keep them.. some of the staff were rude, funny thing is we complained that we would never set foot in one again and head office sent us a 20% discount for our next visit off, after ringing them up saying did you ever read the words, never going again I got some cash back but the rooms were awfully dirty then, just my experiences as we weren't prepared to hire just about everything there as it came to a bit of a shock... :)

You are basing your opinion on a visit 18 years ago? This has to be a wind up, surely?
#32
We are looking at the 3 bed new style woodland lodge in Whinfell, 31st jan, £219 for midweek break. We went to longleat last april and had a great time, its what you make it. We have 2 young children, did not do any activities, took our own food and did not spend a lot. Longleat house was open then though and used tesco vouchers to get tickets for there. Longleat site is massive so chose your lodge/villa wisely. The comfort plus was adequate for us, but the new style do look nice.

Sounds like it's you who needs to get over it if you are still ranting about an experience 18 years ago :)
#35
For everyone saying it's as cheap as you want it to be, the only way it would've been cheap for me would be telling the kids, no you can't go paintballing, no you can't play tennis, no you can' go bowling, no we can't go out for lunch etc etc, not much of a fun holiday, unless all you want to do is shrivel in the pool all day and eat your own sandwiches.

I have just come back from a break at Winfell and some of the lodges have been updated, e.g: plasma TV's on walls, news furniture, very clean and great price. Can't complain and can't wait to go back.
