Pity these weren't mint flavoured. Could use them as chewing gum.

I have one of these and it's not too bad. Only complaint is that the ratchet handle is a bit too short and sharp at the end - put a piece of tube on it to extend the arm and provide more leverage it's not a bad set at full price.
At less than £8 that's a bargain.
As for the sarcastic comments....... some people would complain if they found a winning lottery ticket !

:)I feel better now I've read your comment, they would be perfect for my son to have, but was concerned the metal was soft from the comments above

Previous price was £9.99 so faked RRP again from Argos. Cheap tools are not a good investment for anyone but if that's what you want then jump on in LOL

This is how it works out:
7.99 less VAT = £6.66
Argos would have paid about £3 for this set if that (I think it would be more like £2). Take off shipping from China and the manufacturers profit and you are left with an overall manufacturing cost of about 50p. Now if you think that a tool set that cost 50p to manufacture is going to perform well then go for it

I've had one of these for about 8 years now - bought as I had to get a socket set on a Sunday afternoon and Argos were the only place I could get to before everything closed at 4pm. I expected it to be crap, but it's surprised me and has been dependable. I've lost the T bar but everything else looks brand new despite the fact it's nursed an aging Laguna through a number of repairs, built numerous swings, trampolines and the like and taken my lawnmower apart more times than I care to admit.

Well worth having for occasional use at this price - not everyone needs a grands-worth of Snap-On in the shed...

OK for very occasional use no point buying an expensive set if you will never use them.

This may be true, but how much do you think a snap-on/ halfords pro set costs to make, wont be much more than that, even if it's double it's only £1.

Thanks.....good for simple jobs

Each shop seems to have it's own brand (Screwfix and Forge steel for example). Argos challenge brand is generally the pits in terms of quality - 3 items over time - didn't learn the first or second time....:(
