Good post, well done.
These tools would be fine for jobs around the house, and are as cheap as chips.

Hot.
Purchased the drill bit set. If I need a really high quality bit for a specific job I tend to buy the relevant bit. But for general jobs around the house this will do nicely.
Thank-you OP.

I'm glad they describe the first item in the toolbox as an adjustable wrench and not an adjustable spanner as wrenching is what they do.

I was trained as a mechanic in the RN when I was 16 (back in the 70s) and I would only ever use one of those things in an absolute emergency; they wreck bolt heads and nuts. I have no idea of the quality of the ring spanners in the other set but at least they have six points of (probably tight) contact rather than a loose two which will round the corners.

Sorry, indoctrinated at an early age.

Good ones (bahco etc..) with no deflection in the jaws won't round off a nut. But alas this is not a good one, its cheap and nasty and will break your knuckles given half a chance.

I have bought these cheap sets in the past and that's exactly what they are cheap.
You get what You pay for.
I learned the hard way like I'm sure others will too.
Now when I buy tools I buy quality so they last.

Spirit level, pliers and at a push spanners will be the only things lasting after 6 months. But yes cheap price.

I bought a similar toolbox from Argos 10 years ago. It now needs to be replaced. Thank you OP. Heat added.
Mine has been subject to lots of use and abuse, and lasted 10 years (Well, the box's covers broke, and are now being held together with a cloth tape). I also have the socket set, which has been reliable and still in good condition. I seldom use it now, as I have the £150? set from Halfords for my car jobs.

Don't listen to this poop. If you are looking for a tool kit to have as a stand by to put up the odd picture or tighten the odd screw then these are perfect. If you are a semi professional mechanic or tradesman then they are not suitable. Hence the price point.

No, sorry, not for any set which contains sockets or spanners or adjustable wrenches, These need to be made from Chrome Vanadium steel, looking at the Argos website, only Carbon steel is mentioned, this simply isn't hard enough for these items. If you are simply screwing in a few screws, buy a screwdriver set!

I brought a challenge corded drill withstood tool box of 2 boxes of accessories many moons ago. The drill was okay but has long since expired but I still regularly use all the bits that came with it. Good buy

Lucky escape.
The first set; price seems about right. not a great deal, but everything should be about usable.
The 75 piece set however with sockets and spanners is an area where cheap ones absolutely can and will cause you a lot of problems.

Same can be said for anything however it's more logical for people that aren't in the trade to have something like this to tackle minor tasks like putting up paintings/pictures etc. Even if you possess quality tools, it doesn't mean the person will be any better at doing the work. Anything more than basic tasks, then it's worth calling a professional in to do the work.
