Looks like a very very basic model.

Steel frame sounds heavy. Nice price so.

User reviews are very hit and miss.

Hmmmm.
#3
A second hand Dahon would be a better and safer option.

I've ordered two of them and don't expect to have any problems with them since I used to build bikes from scratch (weld the frames, etc).

There is some question as to which model will arrive. The picture of the assembled bike clearly shows different handlebars than the picture of the folded bike. One reviewer stated that the handle bars don't fold down.

Soooo we shall see tomorrow. No folding handlebars and they go back.

 Why order these then?

The operational words are "used to". I don't have the equipment to build them anymore, but given time, I can make even a bike thats been run over ride straight again.

Awesome, shame to have lost the equipment for such skills.

No offence to the original poster, but hese steel framed folders are awful, a ton weight and ugly looking things. Save your money, get a second hand Dahon or Downtube (if you can source one in the UK) or ideally a Brompton if you looking for quality. Forget about finding a bargain buy Bromprion though!

I have a full sized folder myself, a Dahon Espresso.

Some of you people crack me up. The OP has posted up a deal for 65 quid and people are saying that it is too heavy and they should opt for a Dahon or Brompton etc.. which are at least triple the price!!

Obviously they are a much better make, but if you are after something like this then they aren't badly priced for what you get. The only cheaper option for something similar is fleabay
#10
'Aren't badly priced' shouldn't always mean bad quality, which these things are. This is a third of the price of the nearest similar model of Dahon, but certainly much much less than a third of the quality, not even close to a tenth if you ask me.

For the hassle and additionl spend on replacement parts and hospital visits etc (lol, well maybe I exaggerate ever so slightly :p) the purchase isn't a bargain in my opinion, money wise.

Some things you can't skimp on or make do with in my opinion. Not where safety is concerned.

EDIT: If anyone is interested in a quality folding bike, I have one for sale, used once briefly, looks brand new:

If anyones interested I'll make a seperate post. Sorry for hijacking your post a bit there, amibees

Actually, I might be interested. Please provide me the details and price for my perusal.

Cheers

You can either pm me the details and price or just post them up, either way I don't mind

I was with you right up until the point you came clean and put your bike up for sale.
Horses for course. We all lust after a Brompton, but it is a massive outlay compared to the OP's post.

lol, when you read it back it seems I have a sefish motive for knocking the deal. sorry if it seems like that. The post did remind me of my spare bike which I have never used. I only decided to sell it in my last post, I was planning on keeping it and I'd still be glad to do so if I cannot find a buyer.

I'll post up the details of the bike in a seperate post.

I'm gonna have to REALLY stop hijacking his post now :whistling:

Can anyone please advise if this bike on offer from Argos, has any form of mechanical lock to hold the two halves together when it is folded?
Thank you.
