Hot for the item. Cold for the picture. It is rude, crude and offensive. It speaks volumes of you.

And what a volume it is.

Great timing! Someone is giving us a fire like this, so I've reserved one in case we don't like it!

Good reviews on Argos - 4.7/5 with 40 odd reviews.

ITS CHEAP LOOKING FOR A REASON - ITS CHEAP

some of us cant afford to spend thousands on a new fire and have to make do with cracking deals like this one.

If you are lucky enough to be able to afford higher end products then why bother trawling the net for bargains only to rip them to shreds?

I was in Argos last week and I thought they didn't look very well made. I was just sharing my experience with others. This is meant to be a community after all where opinions are shared.

If you want a fire because you are cold then there are plenty of other functional products that will work better than this and cost less than this. But my guess is people might be considering buying this as a decorative focal point for their room and would be disappointed with the way it looks.

It gets good reviews on the Argos site so some people like it!

And finally I suggest you take that chip off your shoulder. I can't afford to "spend thousands on a new fireplace" but I don't bang on about it.

I reserved one at Bury st Eds for parent, but don't need it now pm me if you want the reservation number.

Picking my one up today. It's a fan heater, how much more lovely can they look?

Your avatar also speaks volumes about. Unfortunately the avatar that truly represents you really would be deemed "rude, crude and offensive".
Thanks for giving me a good laugh though.

voted hot because its cheaper than you can get elsewhere. Some of these horrible fake stoves sell for much more than this and still look fake so for that its a great deal

Cold deal for me though as these things look cheap and tacky. They look nothing like a real stove (which they are trying to). As you say they are a fan heater - how many people want a fan heater as a focal point in a room??

Just ask the store to show you the item when you have bought it. If you don't like it then just get a refund.
It's what i always do.

Got mine. Keeping it! The flame effect thingy is miles better than the old style ones I was used to with a 3 bar electric fire, as it adjusts down so not as orange. It's not as good quality metal as my £300 calor gas fire (!) ... but it looks great in the gloomy under the stairs bit of our living room.

thanks Dennis, it's brightened up a grey damp day :)

picked one up today, very pleased with it for the price. We like quality stuff and think it looks pretty good. Only thing wrong is the silver knob you open the door with, it looks incongruous against the black finish of the rest of the fire. So we have removed it temporarily and painted it with black enamel paint
#27
I got one today, ideal to temporarily fill the gap where my gas fire used to be. I have to say it looks pretty good for the money and id nice and toasty if you need the extra heat (and this deal is toasty too!)

Thanks to the op.

ha! I was sitting here thinking the same thing and looking around for black paint. Also about to put a tiny bit of black tape over the on light as I don't need that little spot shining through the door.

Good to both working lol
How is it generally for the money?

Got mine today, gotta say it's abit on the fat side, it comes way out of the fireplace. Looks out of place so its going back to the store tomorrow when i pick up my kettle.
#31
I got one as well today, havent opened it yet, but the box is quite big and heavy, had a mission to fit it in my car! :-) Just hope it doesnt stick out too much as my room is not that big. :-(
#32
well the packing was sturdy & massive, we're making a feral cat house out of the cardboard box. The fire sticks out 32cms I think, looks good where it is in my house, but it's not in a fireplace. Going to stand it on a slab of slate or granite. ( Homebase had some massive slate slabs about a yard square rtc about £5 the other day ...)
I wouldn't have paid £99 for it, and I've been eyeing up this type of heater for a couple of years and not bought one before, but at £35 it's good. Ideally it would have been cast iron etc etc, but as fan heaters go it's superior and unlike the portable ones I have no inclination to pack it away.
I have turned the metal silver knob black too, prefer it that way, and put a bit of black electricians tape over a little orange on light.

Good to see so many people getting some heat back. ;)
