Why would you need a Brazillian to cut your trees down?;)

hi,
can anyone who has bought one of these help me out.
my dad got one at the weekend.
there is a knob on the side with 2 arrows, one pointing left and the other pointing right, they have the numbers 8 and 9 on it.
dad lives in a different county so i cant see the handbook or the saw.
he says he cant find any reference as to what this knob does.
does anyone know please.
thanks

Just got one of these and other than the very stiff buttons to start it up its does a good job. Saved the £44.95 I paid for it the first time I used it to cutting down a very large Hawthorn tree (bush) which had grown almost as high as the house.

What looks like numbers on the large knob aren't numbers they are small pictures of a lock closed and open. The knob is used to take the side panel off so you can clean or take off the chain/blade. If the chain/blade is taken off make sure it is put back the correct way which is show next to where the chain goes over the sprocket which drive the chain plus tensioned properly.
