Probably a pricing error.

1KW versions are around £60 to £70

Why anyone would want a 2KW version?

The 1kW version just isn't quite poweful enough for my doomsday device.

I was seriously thinking of buying it then I realised it was Argos.

Then I looked at the facts & decided:

Its too heavy to lug about

I would only ever use half the power maximum

1KW ones are £30-40 cheaper

& its probably a price error because as we know Argos only sell carp stuff cheap. Good stuff can only be sold at double the high street price

And 2KW is powerful enough for what?

No heating but you can run 2.5 hammer drills off it?

My doomsday device is 1.8 kW (_;)

ALDI sell them now & again on offer, having checked promotional e-mails ranging back several months, I see 3.2Kw ones at £149 and 850w ones at £59 though I can't comment on the quality or performance of these.

I've just checked & these deals have been posted here before. Must be due similar soon as according to my e-mail archive they've been on offer mid-february ( & Sept/Oct) for the last three years ! Watch this space, see if my prediction comes true :)

If you want to die of carbon monoxide poisoning you can power it up in your hall & plug it in

Not if you want to use a kettle and a toaster, but a TV, Computer, Xbox & some lights sure.

I would not use this to power sensitive electronics as the power would fluctuate and would probably cause harm to the electronics. Get one with a digital voltage regulator less likely to kill your stuff.

Diesel ones are the way forward, fuel them using cheap cooking oil when the petrol prices rise when Armageddon strikes in 2012 and resources sky-rocket in price..lol

They last longer too..

That's just an idea (_;)

Agreed, it would probably kiff off a Plasma or a LCD

I have had a quick look at diesel generators and they tend to be quite expensive.
I am sure they would last longer though.
