would rather spend a little more on a decent quality one....i have a honda and never looked back but sure it was over £300 and i certainly wouldnt go back to terrible electric ones

Does seem a little on the small side, but this is a push mower, not self propelled. The equivalent McCulloch mowers which are self propelled use a 148cc Briggs & Stratton 450 series engine which is in my opinion is worth the extra.

eh? mine is 135cc (izy 465sd)....perfect for medium sized lawns

what make engine is it? if it isnt a honda or briggs&stratton i wouldnt bother

this isnt self propelled - makes mowing ALOT harder - im sure you'll have fun when you try to manoveure that beast - 21.5kg isnt heavy but itll soon feel like 1 ton after 1+ hours mowing)

how longs the warranty? can you buy spares (i'll bet 1 and no)

my honda is self propelled, will last alot longer than this garbage, 3 year warranty and can buy spares

nb. i bought a cheap power devil petrol mower from argos 4 years ago, never again, wouldnt work, couldnt undo the petrol drain plug even with a high quality torque wrench because the dumb manufacturer had tightened so tight it had effectively welded tight...too add insult, argos wouldnt take it back as it had petrol in it....they did after i threatened to take them to court

If you have lawns that takes an hour to mow then I would suggest that a ride-on is required.

I've no idea, but I think it runs on petrol rather than electricity ;-)

I bet you can't buy any for the Honda either. It may have a Honda badge on but chaces are it comes out of China where all the other small cheap petrol engines are produced.
As the complete engine costs less than £100, it doesn't make any economic sense to supply spares (apart from usual replaceable items, e.g. spark plugs etc)

agreed, honda are also highly rated too......the engine is the important part, i think mountefield do the same (fit a decent engine onto their mowers, cause their own are no good!)

Have 4 lawns, none massive (largest is about 50x25ft, smallest about 20x10ft) takes about 1 hour ish. Sit on mower would be impractical - too many trees, patio, drain covers, kids outdoor toys (trampoline, swing, etc) in the way, tho would be fun..lol!

The Briggs and Stratton engine in my mower was made in china, and spares are readily available in the form of a recon replacement.

The american parent company impose design and quality control on the manufacture and that is what makes the difference, with a B&S spares aren't often needed because you can abuse them to hell and they still work.

I used to have a ride-on but now have two ponies, no mowing required (just s**t clearing). Keep a petrol mower for the smaller garden lawns.

thats a bit like saying all cars made in the UK are the same quality....honda's, british leyland (lol)
nb. my parents-in law/wife are chinese and trust me there is a massive variance in quality across the manufacturers - even those made in the same factory

I've got the same Honda badged engine you have on your Izy sitting on top of my Mountfield which cost half the price. The engine was produced in China.

The engine itself is only worth about £100 and you can't buy spare parts for it.
Contact Honda yourself tomorrow and try if you don't believe me.

so apart from all the posturing do we know if this is any good ? if it is then it should be a good deal.
#18
got a mountfield self propelled, damned nice easy and quick mowing. petrol anyday over electric. not seen any reviews about this one anywhere

You've been watching those Ocean Finance ads!

Scne 1. Show average '2.3 kids family looking worried & unhappy because they're riddled with debt & have an unkempt lawn.

Scene 2. Family phone Ocean Finance who work out some way of allowing them to take on more debt (to buy a ride on lawnmower for their 5m x 3m lawn)

Scene 3. Show family looking happy that they now have a lawn that takes 3 minutes to cut (but a lawnmower that takes 20 minutes to put away)

Fade in catchphrase - "Ocean finance...helping stupid people get deeper into debt."

I bought my ride-on second hand for £250. After I didn't need it anymore I swapped it for a quad bike.

Never heard of OCean Finance.

They make parents-in law in factories over there?!

The 3 year cover is only £15.99 and it's one of the very rare occasions when that seems like a good deal. Hot!

We had a Challenge mower before we got our Bosch one and would totally agree with this comment. My husband said no wonder the brand is called Challenge- its a challenge to get it working!
