500W CONSTANT OUTPUT - 800W PEAK OUTPUT - 7 REVIEWS WITH EACH AWARDING 5 OUT OF 5

Perfect for camping, or using a car battery to power tools or other things under 500W.

Don't try to power it from your cigar lighter - as its 500W and so needs to be connected directly to the battery.

This will power most household items, other than ones used to heat, or highly rated power tools. Power laptops, and all but high end computers while under full load.

Additionally, you can use this to power a large fan while camping, and the airflow deters insects.

If the current railway and postal strikes expand to the power companies - you NEED this for winter!

* 500 watt with 800 watt peak power.

* Allows the use of domestic home appliances to be used outside such as games consoles, CD players, portable DVD, drills, TV, laptops and much more.

* Also ideal for camping and caravans.

* Power on the move!

* Size (L)22, (W)11, (D)6.8cm.

You may receive a substitute of similar specification, but cosmetically different.

A very useful piece of kit 15 September 2009

"Most people who possess rechargeable electric tools will encounter the same problem. They are used so rarely that the battery is always flat when you need them. With an inverter you can power your mains voltage AC powertools using the one battery that is always in regular use: The Car. This inverter with it's 500watt power output can easily handle most DIY tools without the need for long trailing cables when working away from the house. It is also great on camping trips for powering up theTV or Laptop, as well as small kitchen gadgets ( a blender is a must even when cooking out of doors). This unit is very robust and should give years of service if looked after."

"Excellent - powers my laptop, phone, tv - and wouldn't say it was too noisy either (just fan cooling inverter).
You will need 12v lead if using in car though as doesn't some with one - 0nly comes with lead to attach to car battery.
Very useful kit for people on the road!!!!"

Excellent for Camping 01 September 2009

"We bought this item for blowing up the airbeds and for powering low wattage bits and pieces. It isn't that clear in the information but this item does NOT plug into the cigarette lighter, you have to connect it directly to the battery.
All in all it is an excellent product, ideal for powering up laptops or charging things, or blowing up airbeds!"

"went camping for 2 weeks and had this hooked up to a big battery and it was ideal for running the phone chargers and lights when it got dark had no need to streach his to its limit though as i got the older modle that is 800w and peak 1200w."

Had to return 2 of these, kept cutting off trying to charge a laptop, one went on fire, so ended up just getting a refund, cheap rubbish.

Typical wholesale price for a 500W inverter is around £18, and buyers who are happy to wait for international shipping may wish to consider this alternative at under £25 delivered and complete with USB port..

500W is a lot of oompf. These are normall 100-200W. Will probably eat a normal battery If you use it for long :w00t:

It was that price last year - just after I replaced my ancient massive ex MOD one with the Argos 350W one at about £27.

Was it an Argos one?

At least if it was you were getting a swap/refund locally.

The greater the wattage the greater the safety margin and less heat normally too.

Its pretty obvious using more power will go through the battery faster, but there is no reason why you cannot add more batteries IN PARALLEL.

Challenge brand is electrically 'challenged' in my experience. Burn out in minutes - if you're lucky a few hours in my experience.

Cheers

You would have thought they would be dropping the price at the end of the season.
