CHAMPAGNE for £5.00 @ Woolworths

Champange is going on sale at woolworths for just £5 a bottle.
The named Worthit! is the cheapest in Britian and will be avaible in 750cl bottles from Monday.
But sales will be limited to just 15 stores where bosses have managed to get a drinks license.
The Woolies fizz, from French producer Henry Villios, is less than half the price of own-label bottles like rivals Asda and Tesco. Woolworths boss Tony Page said. "Champagne is a luxury product but can be produced cheaply, so there is no reason why it can't be sold at value prices.
"This is good champange and at £5, customers won't think twice about buying champange for their celebration, party or event.
The bubbly will be sold in parts of stores away from children's products.
A label on the bottles says it goes best with chocolate rasins from woolies famous "pick 'n' mix" sweet customers

A review in today's mail said that it's rather good and at £5 it's a bargain.

Anyone know where these stores are, can't find any clues on their website.

For something special it's really easy to make your own labels. Just soak the bottle in water to remove original then spraymount the new label. We often do this for friends & they love getting their own label with personalised details.

print your own fancy labels and stick over the top:-D

yes. problem is onl french made stuff can be named champagne. others can be identical in nearly ways apart from origin...

I've just been told it's being restricted to 1 bottle per customer, because of the anticipated demand.

Frankly a half decent bottle of cava tastes much better than champers at thrice the price, especially if you chill icy cold, 40 mins in the freezer is good just before you pop the cork. The Tesco own brand are very good prices and their own vintage is my personal favourite, can often be got as a deal for a fiver, the 'normal' is often sub £3 a bottle on a deal.

Correct, apart from only grapes grown in the Champagne region can make the drink "Champagne".
I've been drinking stuff called Cremant for a while now. (hic!) Basically it's made from grapes grown in the Burgundy region, which is Champagnes' next door neighbour. It tastes the same as champers and costs a third of the price. I'm no wine buff, but trust me, this stuff will be coming to a supermarket near you very soon.... and it'll probably taste better than most cavas or cheap "champagnes" sold by Woolies. You have been warned.:w00t: P.S, Voted hot, cos you never know, it might be all right !

Which Cremant do you go for and whats the price.
I highly recommend demi-sec cava ......Tescos is great and less than £4 a pop.....Sainsburys do a blinding one.

You are probably right there. Cava is a top fizz - if you get the right one. In fact I prefer it over champange myself.

The drink, part of the retailer's growing Worthit! value range, goes on sale on Monday in its 15 bigger out-of-town stores which are already licensed to sell alcohol.

The champagne will be sold at Woolworths branches including Glasgow, Bristol, Manchester and Norwich.

They have it in Newport... 1 per customer.
