Manufacturer's Description
Your stylish square cast iron grill pan is multipurpose as it can be used on the hob, in the oven and under the grill as well as giving your food the griddle stripes associated with restaurant food. Your grill pan is ideal for healthy low fat frying in addition to griddling steaks, chicken and fish etc. After you have eaten, the almost indestructible top coat of enamel makes cleaning easy either by hand or in the dishwasher. For stubborn burnt on food, it is advisable to soak the dish for several hours before cleaning.

Why cast iron?

Cast iron is an excellent conductor of heat which ensures an even heat distribution on all heat sources including induction.

Why French cast iron?

Quite simply it's the best. The Ardennes region of France has been manufacturing premium quality cast iron cookware for generations.

Why Chasseur?

Chasseur cast iron is all hand crafted for consistent quality with a double coating of enamel. The primer coat seals the body while the coloured top coat not only provides an attractive appearance but also adds to the durability of the product and allows easy cleaning.

About the Chasseur range
The Chasseur range consists of round and oval casseroles, saucepans, oval and rectangular serving dishes and roasters, pate terrines, numerous fry pans and Grill pans plus woks and fondues.

Expensive.
If you need to look at what is essentially a lump of metal then buy it. In a year or two, it will then be "the wrong colour" anyway. (Although why anyone thinks these things look good in the first place is a mystery to me!)

If on the other hand you want to cook on something 100% as good functionally, which regardless of price will probably last until your great grandchildren have great grandchildren, try something like these:

or a flat type:

Neither of those quoted is oven-safe so not really comparing apples and apples. The RRP on those Amazon h chasseur offers is always daft but at this price the original item looks reasonable

Well neither are 100% as functional are they? The first one has over 10% less cooking area because it is 23cm not 26cm, and the second one is 24cm with low sides which make it useless for many of the types of cooking that these grillpans really excel at.

Chasseur are expensive but they are last for ever quality, unless you abuse them. I have never paid close to RRP for any of mine, I only ever bought when they were discounted. The RRP is silly but more planet earth than the Le Creuset equivalents.

Oh you should have said the few millimetres were that critical. Most people don't want to big a grill pan, they are so heavy, but I suppose all that grilled meat makes for strong muscles....

This is a going to be a lot better then size is everything:
http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/null+Cast+iron+cookware+in+white/castirowhi,default,pd.html?cm_mmc=Googlebase-_-Home-_-Kitchen-_-Linea_White_26cm_Grill_Pan @ 17 quid.
http://www.crowdersonline.co.uk/shop/in-the-home/kitchen-craft-cookware-and-bakeware/molten-cast-iron-round-grill-pan-with-ribbed-base-28cm-x-55cm-by-kitchen-craft. is so deep you could just about swim in it
or this MUST be big enough?:
http://www.auravita.com/product/Cast-Iron-Oval-Grill-w-Twin-Cast-Handles-Black.CHSS10095.html?RefId=220&adid=CHSS10095

Thus far I haven't found a use for a DEEP grill pan, in fact quite the opposite - the shallower the better, beyond a small lip to stop fat dripping off; especially so if you want to use skewered meats on it, so the meat stays in contact with the surface not raised up by the skewers over the edge, and it also minimises food steaming in it instead of grilling.

If size is everything then this should definitely win

Size isn't everything, that's a griddle not a grill-pan.

Whoever would believe such an uninteresting bit of metal would justify an entire study of semantics!
