On offer again. ASDA have offered this for a little less pre Budget but most of the time it really does sell at £14.46.

Description from the bottle:

Chateaunef Du Pape is the most well known Cru from the Cotes du Rhone. The blend combines more than 9 varietals but the main part of the assemblage is done with Grenache and Syrah.

Taste: Strong fruits on the palate with hints of spice followed by a long and elegant finish.

Can be kept for 3 to 5 years.

I have read somewhere that 2009 was supposed to be a very good year for French wines.

The sort of reply you might expect at 0432 on a Sat night/Sun morning TBH. Why you choose to head for HUKD at that time is interesting though!!

Over rated in my mind

Is this any good? I've had some terrible cheap Châteauneufs recently.

I agree some of them aren't great but just seem to attract a premium because of where they come from. They can be very god though - but I expect the good ones aren't discounted this heavily.

Heat added, if only because it sounds so pretentious to say Chateau neuf de Pape!

I had a bottle, it was decent, not worth £8 imo, if you want to spend that amount on a red I would go with the superb Brancott Estate/Montana Pinot Noir, even at full price (about £9) represents better value, but I suppose we all have personal taste

2009 isn't the best year for this wine, but the price is good, heat added :-)

OH loves this so will be stocking up - heat added!

Flame on, I'm gone
I'm so sweet like a nice bon bon
Came out rappin' when I was born
Mom said, "Rock it 'til the break of dawn"
Puttin' bodies in motion 'cause I got the notion
Like Roy Cormier with the coconut lotion
The sound of the music drivin' you insane
You can't explain to people this type of mind frame
Like a bottle of Chateau Neuf de Pap
I'm fine like wine when i start to rap
We need body rockin' not perfection
Let me get some action from the back section

Beautiful wine and 2009 is the best one I've tasted. I had 3 bottles of this at full price for my birthday, its a bargain at this price.
