and in excess of £100 cashback via topcashback on the Samsung Apollo android handset.
this enhanced cashback offer expires around 01 April 2011.

seems like a good deal

Was just about to post this! Looks like a good deal. These phones usually retail at around the £80 to £100 mark so your basically getting two years worth of light airtime for £150 which isn't bad.

Another good thing is the inclusion of web data which a lot of the cheaper deals sometimes omit. An even better deal if you can get some cashback on top.
#4
So what's the best cashback for the LG?
#5
whats the internet usage policy? internet, text and a few mins seems good for a tenner

Unlimited usage (amount). Booster is only 0.3 mbps so no streaming (iplayer ect)

Would of been a fantastic deal for me if I could add like ~300 mins for an extra £5 a month... sadly I cant :( Heat added anyway as its a good deal

I am with T-Mobile and have found they are quite generous with their allowance for data. If you overuse it, they dont secretly charge you they just "let you know". The network for calls isnt too good where I live unfortunately, but their callcentre is based in teh Phillipines and everytime I have had to call them they answer the phone reasonably quickly and their English is good and they are helpful.

Can you add extra texts?

The £15.32 package gives you 300min,300txt and unlimited (slow) internet.

You can have unlimited texts as your booster instead of web use, or 300txts on the £15.32 package.

Great Deal. Virgin was doing the same deal as they are partner companies.
I have just looked at their web & they are still doing £10.21 pm deals

Please can you detail where do you get the 0.3mbp speed from. I have the £7.50 version of this (came with a T-mobile Pulse about 12 mths ago) and regularly get speeds up to 2mbp (the FUP with this plan was 3GB per mth).
Just tested and got 1.75Mbps download and 0.45Mbps upload.

You must be on web and walk tariff and not booster. If you see the last sim only thread you will see loads of people moaning about it. A selected few managed to get their accounts upgraded to web and walk for free.

I recently changed from Vodafone to T-Mobile (£7.50 sim only deal) and the internet is MUCH quick now with T-Mobile than it was with VF. Plus, when I go into an area where there is no T-Mobile signal it hooks up to Orange, brilliant.

Went for the Apollo with topcashback. Will work out cheaper over 2 years for my son than his current PAYG.

100 mins
100 txts
Unlimited browsing and email
500MB cap on streaming
Chose the free calls to T-Mobile (my network) as the booster.

I ordered the SE X8.

My reasoning was simple. I don't want any of the phones so recycling it, and the SE X8 gave me the most money (£72) via recycling compared to the others!

They're all pretty decent, although for me the X8 doesn't offer much, apart from it's look.
The Galaxy Apollo has the best cashback and is pre-loaded with lots of useful software/codecs like Swype, DivX playback, DLNA and Office Doc Editing.

The Optimus comes with Android 2.2 out of the box and includes a free in-car charger and cradle dock. LG also have an open bootloader so if you're interested in Android Development this is an interesting phone. Also has 512mb RAM.

Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro is nice and compact, brilliant qwerty keyboard, sports a decent 5MP cam with LED Flash (also useful as a torch), comes with Peggle, people see the the QVGA screen res and small screen (2.8") as a big negative though.

Apologies if this is a daft question but having never used cashback how does this work? I see you order through the cashback site which takes you to the T-Mobile site where you place the actual order and pay £10.21p per month. But how / when do you get the £100 cashback - it is a voucher system or similar or (like the names says) do you actually get the cash back? Thanks
#25
Why don't you go to the cashback site and read their FAQ?

Lots of people use TopCashBack and Quidco, it works and gives you the cash into your bank account. It can take up to a few months.

Thanks for that summary, very helpful. Presumably then the Optimus is the only one to come with 2.2?

You can get 2.2 for the Galaxy Apollo but I think it comes with 2.1 out of the box and requires flashing the firmware with ODIN (Samsung's flashing tool)

The Optimus is 2.2 out of the box and should have update to 2.3 by the end of May.

Both Xperia phones are on 2.1 and seem like they'll stay there.

Good explanation. Thank you. (_;)

Checked TCB and it's showing as tracked but at £80 which is the standard rate for new pay monthly contract deals. Checking the FAQ it says that there is a problem with tracking on this and it should increase to the larger amount (£101) closer to the time.

Has anyone else seen this?

I'll get a screenshot of the £101 deal just in case!

Hmm - How long did peoples take to track?

I would say that they are definitely locked and more than likely contain at least some minor T-Mobile changes.
For example on my Motorola Defy the stock browser comes with certain Favourites and T-Mobile as the homepage. Other than that and the animation at Boot, there don't seem to be any other changes to the Stock Firmware.
My Samsung Galaxy S from T-Mobile was completely stock though when I got that.

Took about an hour for me, but only tracked at £80.80 (I went for the appollo).
#36
I ordered mine last night and went for the Apollo too but in the last few minutes had a call to say they are out of stock and not getting any more as Samsung tell them it's now discontinued. I was given the choice of the Sony X10 Mini Pro, Experia X8, LG Optimus One, Nokia C3 or C5, I went for the Optimus One in the end.
#37
Same happened to me technoflump. Would have gone for the Optimus but presumably no longer get cashback as wasn't completed online?

Well I've now had an email confirmation of my "web order" with the updated details changing the Samsung phone to the LG. The order number is the same as my original order confirmation email so I assume that cashback will still apply.

Had the same phone call about an hour ago but only given the option of LG Optimus One and Sony X10! I said I'd think about it.

Do you think it's worth checking with TCB before accepting the alternate phone and getting the £80 Monthly Contract cashback?

Well, if you're wrong then that's 2 of us not getting cashback! Decided just to phone up and get the Optimus. Confirmation from websales with the same order number so hopefully will be OK.
By the way aarong, I was still offered the X8, X10 mini and Optimus one.
